Waiting For Word On Oil Flow

Efforts by BP have been made to stop the flow of oil that is in the Gulf of Mexico. However, it could take several days before confirmation that the oil has stopped flowing.

Click title of post for full story running on AP.

AP Photo/Anonymous
The top kill is the latest in a string of attempts to stop the oil that has been spewing since the drilling rig Deepwater Horizon exploded April 20, killing 11 workers.
 If the procedure works, BP will inject cement into the well to seal it permanently. If it doesn't, the company has a number of backup plans. Either way, crews will continue to drill two relief wells, considered the only surefire way to stop the leak.
 A top kill has never been attempted before so deep underwater. BP Chief Operating Officer Doug Suttles said the company is also considering shooting small, dense rubber balls or assorted junk such as golf balls and rubber scraps to stop up a crippled five-story piece of equipment known as a blowout preventer to keep the mud from escaping.
I still keep hearing about how horrible BP is but, why on earth were they not shut down? It makes NO sense to me. The government will close down a restaurant that violates health code but, not an oil company, that is being reported as having violated many safety standards? It confuses me so much that BP would be so careless with their company. Having so many violations is not within their best interest. Losing all this oil is gaining them what exactly? They are going to be paying so much out of pocket for all of this. It just doesn't make sense to me.

Obama has basically blamed BP for everything and then, also blames the Bush administration (GASP), for having such a cozy relationship with BP and oil companies in general. Well, this didn't happen when Bush was in office. Sorry, Obama.

I don't know. Something doesn't seem right; one day Obama is saying to drill off-shore and then, the next day we have this oil spill. I really can't tell what's going on because, I just don't feel as though anyone is being honest. The whole story is odd.

Woman Falls Asleep and Sues

Just when you think you've heard it all...along comes another idiotic lawsuit.

Ginger McGuire fell asleep on a plane and was not awakened. So, like any other moron, she decides to sue the airline.
McGuire's attorney, Geoffrey Fieger, said his law firm filed a lawsuit against United and Trans States, alleging negligence, false imprisonment and distress. McGuire lives in Ferndale, a Detroit suburb.

Look, I can see where the woman might have been freaked out a little but, I'm sure the airline offered her a free flight or something. Does this woman really need to sue the airline? This is absolutely frivolous and a complete waste of our court's time. I hope she looses and, what would be nice is her having to pay restitution to everyone wasting their time with such a ridiculous lawsuit!

I Am Agreeing With James Carville?

I never could stand James Carville but, in this quick clip, you will actually see him criticizing Obama, concerning his inaction dealing with the recent oil spill.

What I would like to know is, when I turn on the tv, they are all talking about how horrible BP was and, how they always violated all these safety standards, ect. Why were they not closed down?

With a small bit of research, I did find that we are using hair to absorb the oil. So, it's good that some new, inventive ways are being used. You can read more about this here.

Here's the James Carville clip. Enjoy.

China May Sheild North Korea

Click title of post for full story.

China is not yet convinced that North Korea is responsible for the sinking of a South Korean warship, that occurred on March 26, killing 46. They are being reluctant possibly because, they do not want to cause trouble in the region.

Clinton is saying she will try and show China the proof they need. Everyone needs to be on board, in order to ensure consequences for North Korea's actions.

From the article:

North Korea this week said it will cut all ties to the South in response to the findings of the panel. Kim ordered his military to be combat-ready, a Seoul-based dissident group said, sending the Korean won down 3 percent against the dollar on May 25, the biggest one-day drop since March 30, 2009.
“China is doing the thing that best suits China’s interests and everyone’s interest,” Shen said. “China is not pushing the envelope either on the North Korean side to be aggressive or on the South Korean to punish North Korea with warfare.”

Obama Makes Gesture to Protect Mexican Border

Obama is sending 1,200 National Guard troops to protect the Mexican-American border. He is also going to request $500 million for border protection.

Is this really going to be enough? It looks like something he is doing to shut some people up. Of course he needs to try and smooth things over with many in his party and independent voters. Border protection is a very bi-partisan issue. With November elections around the corner, it's no surprise that Obama would do something about the growing concern of illegals in this country.

"I appreciate the additional 1,200 being sent ... as well as an additional $500 million, but it's simply not enough," McCain said.

Click post for full article.

Arizona Democratic Rep. Gabrielle Giffords said the situation on the ground now is different from when Bush deployed the Guard. Arrests have fallen in the Arizona sector and there've been record drug seizures.

She said the border is more violent and law enforcement is outgunned. She and other lawmakers want the troops to be armed - they were not in the previous deployment.

She said the U.S. needs to "spend what it takes" to secure its border with Mexico.

Michael Savage - The Playboy Interview

I just got done reading the interview in Playboy. I still want to buy the issue, to see it in print and, have a nice picture of Michael.

I did not care for the introduction of this interview, which Michael has already complained about on his radio show.

Contributing Editor David Hochman spent more than 16 hours interviewing Savage. Says Hochman, “I can’t remember a more difficult interview. Savage was a fine host, but his opinions are extreme to the point of being poison. Much of the time I hated him. He’s maddeningly bullheaded and closed-minded. But he was just as leery of me. Even when we were laughing I knew he was thinking, Liberal vermin media.”

Every time I hear a liberal accuse someone of being "closed-minded," it's like hearing nails going down a chalk board. Oh, the irony! Let me get this straight, YOU don't understand the way I think, I don't understand the way you think, yet, I'm the ONLY one who's being closed-minded? If those are the rules, then they need to work for the liberal too. He/she is ALSO "closed-minded" but, most of them are too ignorant, too hostile, and too illogical to see the folly of their argument.

So, as for the interview, the questions were clearly slanted. It's extremely obvious the man interviewing wasn't just playing devil's advocate; he clearly thought Savage was in the wrong. It did seem as though they allowed Savage to talk and have his say, in all fairness. I was actually pretty disappointed in Savage's extremely harsh language during the interview. Wow. As smart as Savage is, it didn't come across well at all.

Other than that, he addresses some issues that normally are not brought up on the radio. Things like: Ginsberg, the naked picture, the trip to Fiji, how he met his wife, all of which are very interesting.

Too much was focused on the gay issue but, I think, for the most part Savage was able to explain himself. He even admitted to his wife disagreeing with him about the topic of gay "marriage."

You can read the interview in full here.

Facebook to Address Privacy Issues

According to this article, the privacy issue complaints have finally influenced Mark Zuckerberg to make some changes.

I, personally, am very upset at the fact that I cannot hide what pages I am a fan of. I would really hope that they get that fixed as well.

Mr Zuckerberg's admission also comes after Facebook said on Friday 21 May that it had changed how it shared data with advertisers on the site.

The Wall Street Journal had highlighted how under certain circumstances Facebook had been sending the user name or ID of the person clicking on an advert to the relevant advertiser.

As to the date of when all these new changes will take place? No announcement has been made but, let's hope it's soon.

Vote For Gays in the Military

Click title of post for full story.

Gay rights groups are urging quick congressional approval of a proposal to repeal the ban on gays serving openly in the military while allowing the Pentagon to continue its review of how to implement the new policy.

"Without a repeal vote by Congress this year, the Pentagon's hands are tied and the armed forces will be forced to continue adhering to the discriminatory 'don't ask, don't tell' law," says Joe Solmonese, president of the Human Rights Campaign.

I don't understand why 'don't ask, don't tell" is wrong.
"The American people don't want the American military to be used to advance a liberal political agenda. And House Republicans will stand on that principle," Pence said. He urged Democrats to wait until the Pentagon completes its review.

Teacher Allows Students to Dress Like Klan Members for Film

Catherine Ariemma is a teacher at Lumpkin County High School, located in North Georgia. She teaches an AP class that involves US History and film.

The class had decided to take on the topic of racism and, were apparently filming a scene that involved some students dressing like Klan members.

Ms. Ariemma is in trouble. A complaint by a black parent was made. She could be suspended or terminated.

I'm not sure this is an appropriate way to handle this. It's not like the class was wearing the "white sheets, with holes" because, they were racists. They were making a film about racism in the United States.

The problem is, we live in a world where people seem to be just looking for something to complain about. This teacher has been teaching for years, she has no bad record, she wasn't trying to do something wrong. People need to stop being so sensitive about stuff because, a lot of the time, there is nothing nefarious going on.

Obama Wins = Democrat Loses

Even if Obama appears to be winning, as he is passing big-spend legislation, is this really helping the Democrats?

Anxious and angry, Americans are not in a congratulatory mood. That's bad news for President Barack Obama and his Democratic allies.

After winning a landmark health care overhaul earlier this year, Obama now stands on the brink of seeing Congress approve the most far-reaching overhaul of Wall Street regulations since the 1930s. Democrats aim to put it on his desk by July 4.

His push for government control concerning so many different areas of American life is intrusive. Obama just keeps adding and adding to the deficit, all while telling us that he is going to help the economy? The man is a fool. I am tired of him giving this county lies.

He is socialist. Why doesn't he just come out and say it? I can't understand why people keep defending this man.

Lohan Woes

As I reported the other day, Lohan was stuck in Cannes, due to volcano ash. She was due in court and, the judge offered no sympathy when her lawyer stated Lindsay's dilemma . He issued a bench warrant for her.

AP Photo/Matt Sayles

According to the latest story, he pulled the warrant, since she posted bail. Also, her story is now changing to telling the judge that she had tickets but, it was her passport that was stolen. No volcano ash is being mentioned this time.

Well, this one is just a train wreck that somehow keeps going on and on and on. Read more here.

I always find it odd when folks immediately say that something they can't find was, "stolen." The girl probably got too drunk and misplaced it somewhere. How does she know it was, in fact, stolen? She sounds very immature and completely misguided.

Hillary Clinton - N Korea Must Face Consequences

An international investigation has concluded that a North Korean sub launched a torpedo to sink a ship in March.

The article says North Korea is denying any wrong doing and will respond with all out war if anyone tries to take them on.

I had to do a double take when I read it was Hitlery...ugh...I mean Hillary that said this. Wonder if Obama will go to North Korea and apologize and bow down to the people?

Another Bill - Increase Unemployment Benefits - Tax the Oil Companies

The House is planning on voting on a new bill, next week, that will expand unemployment benefits, and expand various tax cuts that expired in Jan but, will increase taxes on oil companies.

 "This is a bill about creating jobs, preventing outsourcing of jobs overseas, closing loopholes that corporations and wealthy individuals (use for) avoiding U.S. taxes and meeting the needs of those who have lost their jobs through no fault of their own," House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said.
The overall cost of the bill will top $150 billion and could approach $200 billion.
Click title of this post to see more details about what is included in this bill. It is truly astonishing. I understand wanting to help people but, this spending by the demoncraps is completely out of hand.

All of this is just going to increase our deficit. Examples include:

-$1 billion for summer jobs programs, for workers ages 16 to 21.

-$4.6 billion to settle long-running class action lawsuits brought by black farmers and American Indians. One lawsuit concerned the government's management and accounting of more than 300,000 trust accounts of American Indians. The other is a discrimination lawsuit brought by black farmers against the Agriculture Department.

Intelligence Director Dennis Blair Steps Down

Dennis Blair will be stepping down as Intelligence Director.

His 16-month tenure had been studded with public intelligence failures, turf wars and that uniquely inside-the-Beltway ritual humiliation via leaks to the press.
Obama's statement:

"During his time as DNI, our intelligence community has performed admirably and effectively at a time of great challenges to our security, and I have valued his sense of purpose and patriotism," the president said. "He and I both share a deep admiration for the men and women of our intelligence community, who are performing extraordinary and indispensable service to our nation."

In the failed Christmas Day attack, the Senate Intelligence Committee found that the National Counterterrorism Center was in a position to connect intelligence that could have prevented it. As director of national intelligence, Blair oversaw the center.
It appears that David Gompert, the principal deputy director, will replace Blair until another person is assigned to his post.

Arizona Immigration Law Scenarios

Click title of post for full article.

The latest lawsuit filed in federal court to challenge the constitutionality of Arizona's new immigration law includes 14 civil- and immigrant-rights organizations and 10 individuals.

Michelle Obama and the Uncomfortable Moment Concerning Immigration

Click title for full story.

Umm...this story is so liberal, my eyes are bleeding. I recommend you read it for yourself.

Alex Wong, Getty Images / May 18, 2010

According the story, Michelle Obama visited a school and was asked a question by a little girl.

"My mom said … Barack Obama is going to take away everybody that doesn't have papers," one girl told the first lady.

"Yeah, well, that's something that we have to work on, right?" Mrs. Obama replied. "To make sure that people can be here with the right kind of papers, right? That's exactly right."

The girl countered, "But my mom doesn't have any."

"Well, we have to work on that, we have to fix that and everybody's got to work together in Congress to make sure that happens. That's right," Mrs. Obama said before moving on to the next question.

Then, of course the article goes on to say how "heartbreaking" this was. I don't know that I expect much from Michelle Obama. I'm not sure how else she should have handled this but, one thing this story does prove is that we have a huge problem with illegals and, brazen illegals at that.

Rand Paul is So Conservative He Scares Dick Cheney

That's the title of the news story I found. Wow.

I don't know much about Rand Paul but, I'm not too fond of Ron Paul, his father. Ron Paul sounds like a quack and, he also doesn't seem to like Israel much, (I have heard that Rand is also against Israel).There's more but, I'll save it for another time.

I know a lot of folks like him and I, personally, love many of those folks but, it's hard to fully support them. On the other hand, just the idea of having a new face in office is rather appealing.

Reinke/AP
How conservative is he? The 47-year-old Paul - who trounced establishment candidate Trey Grayson in Kentucky's GOP Senate primary Tuesday - wants to abolish the federal departments of education, commerce and energy, as well as the income tax.
...the father of three wants to pull U.S. military forces out of all overseas missions.

Nicolas Cage - I'm Calling Mental Disorder

We all know Hollywood is filled with weirdos. I guess that's part of the fascination with these folks. No matter what happens, or how much time passes, one wacko will always find some way to shock us.

Nicolas Cage has been known in Hollywood as a nut job since it was widely reported that he married Elvis Presley's daughter, for her simply being the daughter of the King. It is well known he has an obsession with Elvis.

His latest entry in the diary of weirdos of Hollywood?

"I love all animals," Cage tells U.K.'s The Sun. "I actually choose the way I eat according to the way animals have sex."
While he stays away from pork, the actor says he favors eating fish and birds because they are "very dignified with sex."

"I have a fascination with fish, birds, whales - sentient life - insects, reptiles," he adds.
Ugh...fish and birds lay eggs. Click title of post for the full story.

Play on Facebook and Twitter - Get Paid!

I'm applying NOW! This job is so mine. Your federal tax dollars at work folks!

The Orange County Health Department could soon be looking for a social marketing media coordinator. The salary would be $43,000, and part of the job could include keeping web pages like Facebook, Twitter, even YouTube up to date with anti-smoking messages aimed at young people.

Man in Bismark, ND Tells Parents and Facebook Page He'll Kill Obama

Eric Hirchert, of Bismark, ND will be released after serving more than 6 months in prison. He will also get 2 years of supervised release. Why? He decided to tell his parents and, display on his brother's Facebook page that he was going to kill President Obama.

Maximum sentence for this is five years.

What an idiot. The article doesn't say but, I can almost hear this 22- year old now, "I was just kidding."

Elementary School Principle Removed - You'll Never Guess Why

Eva Ravelo, now a former elementary school principle from Coconut Grove Elementary School, was removed from her post in Miami.

Apparently Ravelo sent out a crude e-mail to a parent, telling them to, "Eat Sh__ and Die!"

 It is being reported that this was a mistake.

Kagan Abortion Memo

From article:

New York Rep. Louis Slaughter leads the House Pro-Choice Caucus. Slaughter views as "troubling" — her word — a 1997 memo Kagan wrote urging then- President Bill Clinton to back a ban on late-term abortions.

Okay, so I guess there is concern over her views on abortion because of this. Who supports late-term abortions? It's bad enough there's support for early-term abortions but, late-term?

Arlen Specter - FAIL

Arlen Specter has been finally given the boot by voters. Yes, the seat nominee will go to Democrat, Joe Sestak but, it's nice to see that the elections have produced somewhat desired results. He will then go against, Republican Pat Toomey (R), in the general election. Specter has long been an embarrassment. He needed to go.

Mark Critz beat out Tim Burns in the special election that replaced John Murtha.

Rand Paul beat out Trey Grayson for the Republican nominee for US Senate, in the state of Kentucky.  The Democrat nominee will be Jack Conway.

The Bad and the Ugly - Our Borders

Houston Police and Harris County Sheriff’s Deputies have been asked to look out for a man named, Mohamed Ali. He is suspected of having ties with a terrorist group - Al-Shabaab.

This article clearly talks about the urgency that is needed for more border security. There are all sorts of people coming through our borders. This has to stop.

It amazes me the folks in Washington shooting off about AZ trying to stand up and do something. They have no idea that it's not just Mexican's coming here illegally. Terrorists are coming through our southern border. Most of us that have been paying attention already know this.
Last month, Poe, who sits on the Foreign Affairs Committee and Terrorism subcommittee, was among those calling for national guardsmen to patrol the southern border.
Even with the recent addition of predator drones to the existing border camera system, Poe says technology isn't enough.
“We need, bottom line, boots on the ground to keep the criminal cartels and criminal terrorists, if you would, from coming.”

Another One Against Arizona

Mark Kirk, Illinois Congressman, states his opposition to AZ's new immigration law.

From article:

Meanwhile, the self-described moderate on social issues Kirk went rogue on the conservative wing of his own Republican Party when he spoke out Tuesday against the Arizona crackdown on immigration.

"I understand the way Arizona citizens feel. But one state acting alone can't solve this problem. This is a core federal responsibility," said Kirk.

Kirk's Democratic opponent Alexi Giannoulias also opposes the Arizona law because he believes it is divisive and encourages racial profiling.

Both Kirk and Giannoulias support versions of comprehensive immigration reform as national policy.
So, now that he's become a Republican U.S. Senate candidate, I guess it's good that we know he doesn't like the law of the land. What AZ did was simply provide a warning, "hey, we're actually going to start enforcing the law now." Some of these politicians are just incredible. He's also probably another politician that has not read the law anyway.

Vietnam When it's Convenient

For once, I am seeing the New York Times attempt at being fair so, I thought it was important to share this article.

It seems as though Attorney General Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut, is just another Democrat that thinks he actually served in Vietnam. His record does show that served during Vietnam, as a Marine Reserve. This, was, of course, after 5 deferments.

According this article, Blumenthal likes to play up his service, especially when speaking with the vets. He even goes so far as to indicate that he, "came back from Vietnam" which is most peculiar, since he was never there.

Well, what I don't understand is, why does this man feel the need to lie about his service? Is it because, Bush was so wrongfully criticized for his service, since he also did not go to Vietnam? I don't think there is anything to be shameful about here, other than lying and misleading people. That IS shameful.

We see this all the time with Democrats. One year they are telling the American people that there is nothing wrong with what Clinton did - dodging the draft. The next election cycle, they are telling the American people what a hero Kerry was for going to Vietnam, who also got caught in several embarrassing, over dramatic lies about his service. They go out of their way to criticize Bush but, somehow, I don't remember Bush hiding from his absence in Vietnam. He didn't go but, he served his country in other ways.

Blumenthal served in the Marine Reserves. Okay. I think that's great but, enough with these lies and half-truths. You served; be proud; don't exaggerate. When people do this type of thing, it's an insult to those other American's that served, almost downplaying their role. It's also insulting to the folks that did go over to Vietnam. In any case, it's just an overall embarrassment for this country.

So Tell Me, Mr. La Raza...

...if democracy is your enemy, why are you relating this to The United States? This ignorant fool doesn't even realize we are a republic.

...if the United States is so bad, how come you don't go back to Mexico and live in your great utopia there? Oh, that's right, because, we "the bad imperialists" actually have a functioning economy.

...you don't know why we want you out of the country? Well, I'll tell ya why...this has nothing to do with race, age, religion, sex, nope, it has to do with people being here illegally.

...you think this is occupied Mexico? Since when does someone get to keep claim on land that they lost? Are you going to let an Indian have your house since, it was the Indians that were here first? Can they start moving in this week? I've got news for you, this isn't done anywhere in the world.

Poor LiLo

Well, I haven't done any pop culture stories in awhile so, I headed over to tmz.com to find that Lindsay Lohan is still facing woes. Apparently, she's in Cannes, and can't find a flight back to the states because of the volcano ash. Why the urgency to get back to The States? Well, she has a pesky little thing to show up for - court.

She was supposed to attend 13 alcohol education classes but, so far, has only completed 10. Apparently the 10 she took, clearly did nothing, as you can see from photos taken on the 16th, her falling down after a hard night of partying.

What is with this girl? Even Paris Hilton has seemed to slow down! What a pity.

Who's Dog is it Anyway?

Residents at a downtown Baltimore condominium are considering a highly scientific solution to find out whose dog is pooping in the hallways and the elevators.

So, according to this article I found, Steve Franz,a board member at the complex, is suggesting DNA tests be used to find the dog that's doing his business in the hallways!

I love this!

7-2 Judgment - Keep Sexually Dangerous in Prison

Excerpt from article:

Solicitor General Elena Kagan successfully argued the government's case in front of the Supreme Court. Kagan has now been nominated to replace the retiring Justice John Paul Stevens.

Kagan in January compared the government's power to commit sexual predators to its power to quarantine federal inmates whose sentences have expired but have a highly contagious and deadly disease.

"Would anybody say that the federal government would not have Article I power to effect that kind of public safety measure? And the exact same thing is true here. This is exactly what Congress is doing here," she said.
Justice Clarence Thomas dissented from the court's judgment, saying Congress can only pass laws that deal with the federal powers listed in the Constitution.

Nothing in the Constitution "expressly delegates to Congress the power to enact a civil commitment regime for sexually dangerous persons, nor does any other provision in the Constitution vest Congress or the other branches of the federal government with such a power," Thomas said.

Thomas was joined in part on his dissent by Justice Antonin Scalia.

Now, mind you, I do think, by law, Scalia and Thomas are absolutely correct. I just don't care for sexual offenders so, pardon me for not having much sympathy.

Obama Doing What He Does Best

Click title of post...

Obama believes in free press, just not when it comes to answering questions for them.

From article:

Recall that last Friday the president refused to take any questions after delivering his angry statement on the oil spill in the Rose Garden. And he has not held a prime-time White House news conference in many months, despite much pleading from pundits and members of the media.

Interesting Oath Keepers Interview

Are You Sure Obama is a Christian?

We've all heard Obama make the claim that he is a Christian but, we also know the kind of church he attended for 20 years. The Rev. Wright that ran his church is a disgusting racist of the lowest order, who preaches hate for the very country that elected Obama as it's leader.

Now, perhaps some of the clips you see you in this video, individually, might not be so much of a big deal but, when you have a president who keeps doing these things, as you shall see, one has to begin to wonder where his faith and beliefs really lie.

I'm sick of people making excuses for this man. Is it just that they are ignorant, by not paying attention, or is it that they are so unbelievably politically correct that they absolutely shake in fear of criticizing the first [GASP] black president?

This man not only slips up and says that Muslim is his faith but, then goes on and on in several clips praising Islam. He goes so far as to suggest that Islam is responsible for being a great culture, with music, art, literature innovation, and that civilizations owe a great debt to Islam. Really? Please tell me all about these supposed great things because, I haven't seen anything come out of Islam since I've been alive, other than people blowing people up across the globe. It's not to say that NOTHING good comes from Islam/Middle East but, clearly it's nothing that has made a presence around the world, nothing that we actively see.

He also says in one of these clips that, Islam has been a part of the US since the very beginning. Is he kidding? I have NEVER once heard of Islam being a part of the first colonies that settled here. Who the hell does this clown think he's fooling? Is he talking out of his ass or, is he trying to fool people, or is he just a total idiot?

"If you took the number of American Muslims in America, we'd be one of the largest Muslim countries in the world."

WHAT?! This man is on drugs!

He proclaims we are no longer a Christian nation...oh, gesh...just watch it. How can this man claim to be a Christian and, how on earth can anyone think that he actually is?

Napolitano Passes Judgment on a Law She Never Read

It's not surprising that Napolitano would  pass judgment on a law that she never read. Isn't this what all democrats have been doing lately? Over 2700 pages of a health care bill that you know not one of those democrats completely read for themselves.

A Message About Immigration

Stéphanie is very dear to me. I call her my sister. She is a legal immigrant from France. She wrote what I am about to share with you. Her words brought tears to my eyes.

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm an immigrant but I pay my taxes, I contribute to the country welcoming me, I spend my money here and not to build a house in the country I come from and to hear some say "back home" aggravates me. If it's your home then stay there!
And I don't need to press 2 to hear my language because I had the decency and respect to learn English. I love Thanksgiving and the 4th of July and I noticed after 2 years here I forgot the 14th of July, just passed the date.
I want to know more of the history, the writers, artists, everything that makes America. I don't stay stuck in my French culture, I don't throw it, I'm proud of it, but I adjust with pride and desire to do so.
Remember the Melting Pot: "a place where immigrants of different cultures or races form an integrated society", INTEGRATED not a division of groups, a United Nation.
"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God,indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
I for one understand that people want to move here, I moved my family 9 years ago, but I did it legally and respectfully.
And if I wanted to have most of my salary taken away to help illegal immigrants by paying for their health care, schools and so on I would have stayed in Europe.
Living in America is extraordinary but things have to be done the right way. I wouldn't want people squatting my place indefinitely at my expenses would you?
My family moved from Mongolia to Poland then to France and we all have a framed copy of my grand parents' French certificate of naturalization because they were proud of it! They earned and deserved it.
The day I will become American will be the day of my birth and I am moved to tears just to think of it! That day I will be complete and blessed to be a citizen of the greatest country in the world.
Or, is it? It seems as though, if a Republican engages in behavior that is sexual and unacceptable in nature, it is clearly wrong, it should be punished. What happens when a Democrat does the same?
What's established so far is that Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office took no known action when the first red flag about Massa was raised last October. When there was a second red flag in February, though, action by Majority Leader Steny Hoyer was swift. The complaints went to the House ethics committee.
Party leaders can't be blamed for a single member's sexual proclivities. But ignoring them when they involve former and current congressional staff, if not covering them up, is a different matter, and that's what helped sink Republicans in 2006.
According to Pelosi aides, the Massa aide never mentioned groping, propositioning or other sexual misconduct. Still, the speaker's office has refused to say what - if any - action was taken.
Just a few excerpts from the article.  I love how the dems always have a double standard. G-d forbid if a Republican do something wrong but, if a demoncrap does the exact same thing, it should be forgiven and forgotten.
Health Care Bill - Part Twelve
Beginning on p. 553
Subtitle J—Improvements to the Medicaid and CHIP Paymen and Access Commission (MACPAC)
This section, from what I am understanding, is saying that this MACPAC will basically review everything the states are doing concerning Medicaid and CHIP, then will make various recommendations towards improving various processes. MACPAC shall work with  Medicare Payment Advisory Commission, or MedPAC. They will share information and carry out their duties. So, basically all this is MORE bureaucracy. People will oversee other people, who are overseeing others and, reports will be made. Utter nonsense!
Subtitle K—Protections for American Indians and Alaska Natives - p. 565
If you're Indian, there will be no cost sharing if you are at or below 300 percent of the poverty line and, you're enrolled through the state exchange. SEC. 2902. ELIMINATION OF SUNSET FOR REIMBURSEMENT FOR ALL MEDICARE PART B SERVICES FURNISHED BY CERTAIN INDIAN HOSPITALS AND CLINICS.
Subtitle L—Maternal and Child Health Services This section is somewhat pie-in-the-sky legislation. The idea is to help develop a program that will actually visit children during their early years. The target? Children of poverty, children who may be abused, children from areas of high crime, ect. The government will determine the need for each state and hand out grants.
This all-inclusive program is going to do all sorts of great things. It will improve everything from infant health to school readiness. It's plan is to reduce neglect and abuse. Basically get involved with families and show them how things are supposed to be done!
All this stuff sounds amazingly wonderful. Who could be against something so great? Unfortunately, I'm not sure the government is going to solve all of the woes. What about people being allowed to raise their children the way they see fit? I'm not saying that spankings, for instance, are the best way to handle your child's behavior but, sometimes a spanking may be necessary. I don't know. All families are different. They have their own way.
Of course, we find that the Secretary will be overseeing and providing a model. It also looks like they will set forth a chain of priority. They also include families that are in Armed Forces.
After this description includes a bunch of formalities that will occur with the Secretary and state. They also discuss the budget on p. 593.
...leaving off on p. 595.
Obama's Change in Drug Policy
According to the article on the AP, Obama's new drug policy will be more focused on reducing drug demand by pushing for prevention and intervention.
Critics of the policy are saying they like the rhetoric but, that the budget has not changed much since, it still seems to push for arresting and prosecuting.
He also lifted a ban that originally prevented federal funding going toward needle exchange programs.
Obama also would like doctors to ask patients about drugs during routine visits. The theory behind this is to see if the doctor can intervene before the problem gets out of hand. He also wants to be able to find any doctors that are over prescribing highly addictive pain killers.
I think this might be a good direction to go. It would at least be something different. However, I'm not too keen on the idea of federal money paying for needles of drug addicts.
The drug issue has always been an odd topic for me, as I have never been able to quite make up my mind on how to best handle this problem. Something has to be done, I just am not sure what exactly. What do you think?
Who's to Blame for the Oil Spill?
Transocean Ltd, BP, and Halliburton are all expected to put blame on one another during the upcoming Senate hearings. The oil spill has caused many problems so far and everyone is playing the blame game.
Personally, I'm not sure but, the article seems to put the blame slightly more on BP. What do you think?
Elena Kagan - Obama's Choice for Supreme Court
AP Photo/J. Scott Applewhite
It's no surprise that Obama would be interested in nominating Kegan to the Supreme Court. She's left wing, a lawyer, former dean of Harvard Law School, never has served as a judge, and of course, the all-important factor of adding a woman.
What I Mean When I Say, "They Don't 'Get It'"
So, I ran across an article written by, Taylor Marsh. She is clearly a person who is thick-in-the-head.
One thing I would like to point out about anti-Tea Partiers is, they constantly use dramatic rhetoric demonizing people but, never follow through with any examples citing their claims.
If you read the article, she is trying to defend Clinton and his remarks about igniting violence, bringing up the Oklahoma City bombing. She further tries to characterize the Tea Party and their efforts and likens them to "right tactics" that were used during the years Clinton was in office. She even goes so far as to try and justify Clinton's actions when he was impeached!
First of all, I keep hearing folks like her say that the Tea Party members just, "really don't understand taxes."
As we found out last week, many in the Tea Party are wealthy and well above McVeigh’s class. Their anger is splintered and partially misinformed, especially on taxes, though their target of government spending hits the mark.
Excuse me? I am sorry to point out to this moron that most economists are CONSERVATIVE. It is very rare that you run into a "liberal economist." That's pretty much an oxymoron, even on liberal campuses. This is just a FACT.
As a Princeton grad myself, I have full confidence in your teacher. Putting that issue aside, let me address your central question: Does the study of economics tend to make people conservative?
I believe the answer is, to some degree, yes. My experience is that many students find that their views become somewhat more conservative after studying economics. There are at least three, related reasons.
He then goes on to list the reasons why. If you would like, just follow the link to read the full post on his blog.
Putting aside this fact that economists are generally conservative, do you notice how Marsh makes her attack but, then never follows up with what it is that the Tea Party people supposedly don't "understand" concerning taxes? No, she just continues on as if that is fact and her readers shouldn't question her.
Of course, nothing could possibly be written by a liberal about The Tea Party, without mentioning race and, how they hate Obama because he is black. In reality, this is probably the only thing they actually LIKE about him. I think most ALL Americans can come together and say they are quite proud that a minority is in office. This is a wonderful accomplishment for this county. Most people are thrilled because, it PROVES how far this country has come to overcome the problems it once had. It also proves that minorities are not victims! You can work hard and accomplish anything you desire, regardless of your race.
Marsh chooses, instead, to liken The Tea Party members to simpletons who are only mad at government for having a black in office. They are just a bunch of racists, in her eyes, who are stupid and ilinformed. Once again, there is NO evidence for anything she categorically claims to be true. The sheep reading her article are merely supposed to absorb her words without question.
There is a complete lack of understanding when it comes to the people who make up the Tea Party. Not everyone is right-of-center. There are many folks on the left who are also angered by government's expansion within the last several years. Obama has made himself the, "straw on the camels back" with the policies he is pushing through. Many folks have been mad for years and not just at Democrats but, Republicans as well. Reading this article only further shows how completely out of touch many of these liberals are with the people, especially those who make up The Tea Party.
I do not have all the articles in front of me but, I read quite a bit out of several news publications when Clinton was in office. This was mostly due to having to do so for school. While reading out of very liberal publications like Time, and US Weekly, I remember distinctly them saying that Tim McVeigh was a liberal, not a conservative. In one interview, they noted that he loved watching CNN - hardly a center for right wing ideology, even back then. Yet, it's the conservatives that are rewriting history?
We also know that the Clinton administration buried every single report concerning a man, John Dow number 2, that was described as a Middle Eastern man. I'm not going to go off on a tangent here (that would be another topic entirely), but the point is that McVeigh was working with terrorists! The Middle Eastern variety. Ya know? The crisis that Clinton ALWAYS IGNORED! See USS Cole, '93 WTC Bombing, Saddam Hussein - no-fly zone, ect. The list goes on and on. OKC was just one that he was able to somehow try and push on the right, blaming Rush Limbaugh.
Marsh also tries her hardest demonize the members of The Tea Party, by insisting they mostly believe that Obama is an illegal alien but, then the poll she sites for this article says:
This fact was once again proven last week when the CBS/NY Times poll reported that this myth “persists among Tea Partiers,” but also many Americans, with a total of 44% either not knowing or believing Pres. Obama was born in another country.
She words the article to make it sound like birthers are the majority of The Tea Party but, 44 percent is hardly a majority, let alone, it would be less than even that because, the 44 percent cited, also includes folks who say, "they don't know." She combines the numbers to make the number larger.
Bottom line, birthers may be wrong but, don't they have some concern or worry that there is a president who is dead set on not allowing records to be released? Perhaps he was born here, let's say it is a myth. What is it that he's hiding, because it's clearly something. Can she not at least admit that?
At the very end of this poor excuse of an article, Marsh tries to rationalize Clinton:
However, it’s important to remember he was still impeached through the lazy lacing of a thin sexual harassment case with a consensual affair that required the questionable and possibly illegal sequestration of a young woman, never mind that the two cases should never should have been coupled in the first place.
Umm...did this woman even read The Starr Report? You cannot be this ignorant and consider yourself to be an authority on politics. Ms. Marsh should be ashamed of herself! How can a woman support a womanizing, abuser like Bill Clinton? The man had not one complaint of sexual harassment but, I believe the number climbed to SEVEN. That being said, he was NOT impeached because, he had an affair! For crying out loud, the man was impeached because, he had people hide evidence, he tampered with witnesses, AND he LIED under oath! I mean, what is it that these morons do not understand?!?!
Can someone really be this stupid that they don't know the basic facts of the case that involved Clinton? Again, why would you ever defend the actions of a man who is clearly disrespectful of woman? This woman is a disgrace to women everywhere!
People like Taylor Marsh just really confuse me. They just don't "get it!"
A Letter to the Editor Share
A man is wise with the wisdom of his time only, and ignorant with its ignorance. - Henry David Thoreau
There is nothing worse than a bully-except perhap a bully that cloaks themselve in some high minded elitism. This bully doesnt take on a public figure like Donald Trump even though he insinuated that Al Gore should return his Nobel peace prize or right wing skeptics such as John stossel,Rush ,Hannity,etc. It doesnt take issue with criticism from such left wing publications like Der Spiegel or the Guardian who wrote " It’s no use pretending that this isn’t a major blow. The emails extracted by a hacker from the climatic research unit at the University of East Anglia could scarcely be more damaging. I am now convinced that they are genuine, and I’m dismayed and deeply shaken by them."( George Monbiot, UK Guardian columnist, environmental activist). Nooo my friends ,when they come .....they will come for the weatherman. Especially those to have the Audacity of Nope :a seemingly innocous view that the Catastrophic Global warming - Al Gore's apocolyptical version of our future, a vision that the producers of Mad Max would be proud of ,might not be in the cards .
The New Yorker's Elizabeth Colbert ,the prestigous socialite magazine's writer penned a scathing attack on Joe Bastardi, who goes by the title “expert senior forecaster” at AccuWeather, . Bastardi, who holds a bachelor’s degree in meteorology, disagrees with the theory that the worls is warming propelled by greenhouse gas emissions. His theory...... is that the earth is actually cooling. Why don’t we just wait twenty or thirty years, he proposes, and see who’s right? This is “the greatest lab experiment ever,” he said recently on Bill O’Reilly’s Fox News show. Kolbert concludes that Bastardi’s position is ridiculous (which is no doubt why he’s often asked to air it on Fox News). Yet there it was on the front page of the Times last week. Among weathermen, it turns out, views like Bastardi’s are typical. A survey released by researchers at George Mason University found that more than a quarter of television weathercasters agree with the statement “Global warming is a scam,” and nearly two-thirds believe that, if warming is occurring, it is caused “mostly by natural changes."
Ok clearly implication : Bastardi is a right wing goon who is barely educated and appears on a network that would find such "ridiculous "views credible. Unsaid is how the other meteorologists came to their "natural changes" views but really should anyone be concerned what a weathercaster thinks ? I think not .....
"Virtually every major scientific body in the world has concluded that the planet is warming, and that greenhouse-gas emissions are the main cause".....Bastardi and his ilk can spout their dubious theories but REAL scientists disagree
Actually..... thats not entirely accurate as the head of this unit , CRU director Phil Jones admitted in a BBC interview that in the last 15 years the earth had not warmed substantially and had probably cooled. Tim Flannery, Australian environmental and global warming activist added: "When we come to the last few years when we haven’t seen a continuation of that (warming) trend we don’t understand all of the factors that create earth’s climate… We just don’t understand the way the whole system works… See, these people work with models, computer modelling. So when the computer modelling and the real world data disagree you’ve got a very interesting problem… Sure for the last 10 years we’ve gone through a slight cooling trend.
Kolbert continues:
."In the e-mails, C.R.U. researchers often express irritation with their critics—the death of one detractor is described as “cheering news”—and discuss ways to dodge a slew of what they consider to be nuisance Freedom of Information requests."
However upon investigation there exists a couple of issues raised in the ACTUAL EMAILS
that might strike one more damning and explosive to the global warming posse put
together by James Delingpole
1>Manipulation of evidence:
[I’ve just completed Mike’s Nature trick of adding in the real temps to each series for the last 20 years (ie from 1981 onwards) amd from 1961 for Keith’s to hide the decline.]
2>Private doubts about whether the world really is heating up:
[The fact is that we can’t account for the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can’t. The CERES data published in the August BAMS 09 supplement on 2008 shows there should be even more warming: but the data are surely wrong. Our observing system is inadequate.]
3>Suppression of evidence:
[Can you delete any emails you may have had with Keith re AR4?
Keith will do likewise. He’s not in at the moment – minor family crisis.
Can you also email Gene and get him to do the same? I don’t have his new email address. ]
These emails are clearly damning in that they go to show manipulation of data to achieve a result . THIS ISNT SCIENCE - its advocacy with a scientific veneer but with outcomes only Vince Mcmahon would be proud of . In that same BBC interview ,Phil Jones still cant explain what he meant by " hide the decline",acknowledges that the middle age period might have been warmer which is suprising because try as i might i cant find any historical accounts of Henry V tooling around Agincourt in a tricket out BMW We are only mere mortals and not "climate scientists" BUT it seems clear what is actually being attempted when someone uses a "trick" in interpreting data. I believe in financial world it is referred to as "cooking the books " . The fact the scientists themselves are humiliated by the fact they cant account for lack of warming shows that "the debate is over " nonsense didnt even exist in the hallowed halls of the East Anglia Institute. Finally it is common sense that if you feel the need to delete emails and block simple "freedom of information " requests one gets the feeling that someone is trying to hide something .
The New Yorker acknowledges that 2007 IPCC report, which won the Man-Maders a Nobel Peace Prize, said the probability of Himalayan glaciers “disappearing by the year 2035 and perhaps sooner is very high” as a result of man-made global warming was recently forced to retract its disappearing-glacier claim, which had been made on the basis of a non-scientific magazine article. Implied in the article is that in a 671 page paper a paragraph or two that isnt true really isnt anything to get worked up over . I guess to paraphrase : "you need to break a few eggs to make a comprehensive climate accord "
"No one has ever offered a plausible account of why thousands of scientists at hundreds of universities in dozens of countries would bother to engineer a climate hoax".
In response to this let me offer up this thought by John Coleman, the senior meteorologist who had the courage to expose the repeated manipulations of data by some relevant climate institutions, wrote: “Some misguided scientists with environmental and political motives manipulated long-term scientific data back in the late 1990's to create an illusion of rapid global warming. Other scientists of the same environmental extremism type jumped into the circle to support and broaden the "research" to further enhance the totally slanted, bogus global warming claims. Their friends in government steered huge research grants their way to keep the movement going. Soon they claimed to be a consensus. Environmental extremists, notable politicians among them, then teamed up with movie, media and other liberal, environmentalist-journalists to create this wild "scientific" scenario of the civilization threatening environmental consequences from Global Warming unless we adhere to their radical agenda.”
"Goofball weathermen, Climategate, conspiracy theories—these are all a distraction from what’s really happening. Which, apparently, is what we’re looking for. "
Finally Ms Kolbert returns her fire onto the dreaded Bastardi + his supposedly ill equipped meteorologists who apparently are serving as a distraction from the "new era " of global climate change policy. Im sure Mr Bastardi can defend himself but could i offer that what we are actually
looking for is the truth and we might even accept a real debate on how "settled " the science actually is?
Another Point of View
One of my FB friends wanted me to share this message. He's not an Alex Jones fan by any stretch, but he is a Founding Member of Oath Keepers. There may be something to this video...
As with any of my friends, they are certainly welcome to send me anything they would like me to share. Personally, I cannot stomach Alex Jones but, there's no reason to not share what other people's views are.
New Obama Investigation
New investigation says, "The 'certification of live birth' as touted by Obama apologists and the mainstream media as 'proof' Obama meets the eligibility requirements of the Constitution actually proves nothing."
