Chick-fil-A Nonsense

This took me forever to write...and I'm still not terribly satisfied but here it is anyway...

So the CEO of Chick-fil-A does an interview and reveals his support for traditional marriage. You know, the way it's always been for six thousand years with one man and one woman? Now the left in this country has gone into full-on insane mode and they have set up the terms of this argument by telling everyone the whole company represents gay-hate.

High Court Says, "Don't Ask, Don't Tell."

AP – FILE - In this April 9, 2010 file photo, the Supreme Court is seen in Washington. The Supreme Court …
The Supreme Court on Friday allowed the "don't ask, don't tell" policy on gays in the military to remain in place while a federal appeals court considers the issue.

The court did not comment in denying a request from the Log Cabin Republicans, a gay rights group, to step into the ongoing federal court review of "don't ask, don't tell." The Obama administration urged the high court not to get involved at this point.

I'm still unsure of where Obama stands on this issue. Any ideas?

Obama Administration Seeks Stay of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell"

AFP/Getty Images/File – A protester rallying to demand the "Don't Ask Don't Tell" policy be repealed in March
The federal court of appeals have been asked by the administration for a stay on the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy concerning gays serving in the military.

I don't understand. Didn't Obama campaign that he wanted to get rid of that policy?

The Obama administration says it is in favor of repealing the law. However, the government says that letting the ruling of U.S. District Judge Virginia Phillips to go forward immediately would be a major problem for the military.
This is ridiculous. If they don't want it, then why would there be problems? Oh, so they recognize it's a problem yet, they can't just admit that it's bad policy to get rid of "don't ask, don't tell"? You can't have it both ways here.

I'm still not sure what legal authority the court felt they had to do this in the first place? Isn't this something the people should be voting on? Or, shouldn't the military be the ones voting on this issue? Where does the court even have the authority to rule on something like this?

If you know, please comment below, because, I'm quite confused on this.

Pentagon Directs Military to Accept Gays

AP – Dan Choi, an Iraq War veteran and a West Point graduate who was discharged from the military in July …

Now that the Pentagon has issued an order for recruiters to accept gays, many who were initially turned away are reenlisting.
"Gay people have been fighting for equality in the military since the 1960s," said Aaron Belkin, executive director of the Palm Center, a think tank on gays and the military at the University of California Santa Barbara. "It took a lot to get to this day."

Amongst gay rights groups, and inside the military, there is still some confusion as to what will happen if the law changed back. Many groups are still encouraging gays not to come out openly for fear they will later be kicked out.

"U.S. Army Recruiting Command is going to follow the law, whatever the law is," Smith said.

The message, however, had not reached some recruiting stations.

In Pensacola, Fla., Marine Sgt. Timothy Chandler said he had been given no direction. "As far as we are concerned everything is the same. The policy hasn't changed," he said, as others in the office nodded.

Pop Culture - Perez Vows a Change

In his interview with Ellen DeGeneres, Perez states that he is going to make a change on his blog site, by no longer engaging in bullying of celebrities.

Click title of post for full article.
Hilton is notorious for his outlandish and often vulgar style of reporting celebrity news. He is known to crudely draw inappropriate things on pictures of celebrities – things we can't even put into words on this website! – and has invented a host of callous nicknames for a variety of stars, including Jennifer Aniston, who he refers to as "Maniston," and Lindsay Lohan, termed "Lindsanity" on his blog, a reference to her ongoing legal troubles and substance abuse issues.
The tragic death of Rutgers University student Tyler Clementi, who committed suicide by jumping from the George Washington Bridge after his roommate secretly live streamed footage of him engaged in a private act with another man, has recently been a major topic of discussion for Hilton. While the circumstances are slightly different – a public person vs. a private person, a teenager vs. a thirtysomething man – it's difficult to not see that, in many ways, Hilton at one point in his professional career actively sought to do to Neil Patrick Harris what Dharun Ravi did to Tyler Clementi – make his private life public by placing details of his most intimate moments on the Internet for the world to see.
So, now Hilton has had a change of heart. I guess that's his business but, isn't that what he does -insult celebrities? It seems to me this isn't going to help him much.

Looks like Perez has pissed one too many people off but, it's also the reason he's become so famous. We'll have to wait and see if this "change" pays off for him.

Vote For Gays in the Military

Click title of post for full story.

Gay rights groups are urging quick congressional approval of a proposal to repeal the ban on gays serving openly in the military while allowing the Pentagon to continue its review of how to implement the new policy.

"Without a repeal vote by Congress this year, the Pentagon's hands are tied and the armed forces will be forced to continue adhering to the discriminatory 'don't ask, don't tell' law," says Joe Solmonese, president of the Human Rights Campaign.

I don't understand why 'don't ask, don't tell" is wrong.
"The American people don't want the American military to be used to advance a liberal political agenda. And House Republicans will stand on that principle," Pence said. He urged Democrats to wait until the Pentagon completes its review.

More Gay Military Drama

Click title for full story. The story is reporting that Lt. Gen. Benjamin Mixon, who is a high ranking Army general, was urging troops to push for the "don't ask, don't tell" policy to stay in place.

"Now is the time," Mixon said, "to write your elected officials and chain of command and express your views. If those of us who are in favor of retaining the current policy do not speak up, there is no chance to retain the current policy."

By him doing this, they consider this to be subordination. According to the article, he will not be reprimanded but, it does seem he was warned.

I don't know why this is an issue again. It's only when demoncraps get in office, where you find this push of gays. It's like they want to point out how awful we are as a country because, we don't want to focus on people's sexuality. Who cares?

It's not anyone's business. If you serve in the military, you're there to do a job, not talk about your sexual conquests. Furthermore, I don't see anything wrong with this general saying that he has a problem with lifting the policy.

I am not in the military so, I may not be seeing the whole picture here but, from where I am standing, I don't see why this is an issue.
