About

I started this blog for the purposes of writing about topics that I am passionate about. I also have a desire to become a better writer and the best way to do this is by taking action and writing.

If you don't like long winded stories, you can just stop here. If you do like stories...continue reading.

Politics, Science, Health, Psychology, True Crime, Economics, and Culture are some topics that I take interest in. I enjoy researching and learning as much as I can about different topics. I hope to be able to provide my audience with some interesting, well thought out information and opinion.

Growing up I was fascinated with Reagan and although I was not terribly informed since I was only a child, I was enamored by his presence and his leadership. I was a very sensitive child growing up and one of the few among my peers who was overly concerned about the Cold War. For some reason I felt confident that Reagan was our leader.

My parents were democrats for years and had voted for Carter but then later became what would be known as Reagan-democrats. After his first term they were impressed and never voted for the democratic party again.

After Reagan, Bush Sr. ran for president and it seemed quite natural for him to take the office of presidency. By this time I was older and a little more engaged as well as more knowledgeable. Operation Dessert Storm became personal, as my neighborhood was filled with military folks, many of whom were shipped to Iraq. I grew up in South Omaha but technically North Bellevue, NE (we were annexed), not far from Offutt Air Force Base. We believed in our mission and we supported the troops as well as President Bush.

When Clinton ran against Bush I was in high school. I never liked Clinton but I remember watching the debates with my parents and turning to look at my mother I said, "Bush doesn't want to win." I had remembered his previous debate against Michael Dukakis and his heart and soul were engaged during that debate (I only remember one). For some reason I could tell that Bush was not going to win.

Clinton was a smooth talker and even though my wage went from $3.85 to $4.25 an hour, I was never impressed with Clinton. I remember me and a friend had actually calculated our wages from the two years we had worked and when we included our tax returns we actually were able to keep more of our money under Bush vs. Clinton's first year in office. Still, there is no doubt that the Clinton years seemed to keep money flowing and there seemed to be many jobs.

After high school, I immediately began working at the Omaha Community Playhouse. I was a backstage volunteer and soon moved on stage staring as Sister Terry in the improv comedy Tony and Tina's Wedding.  My years of doing theater eventually led me to doing this same role in professional theater. I also did volunteer performances at another small theater called the Shelterbelt. I am very fond of these years since I enjoyed what I was doing. I had become fairly successful at my regular job as well. I had my own place which was actually a nice apartment (not a slum like my previous place of residence). I partied; I was reckless; I let the attention and pseudo-fast living get to me. I became liberal -- very liberal. Most my free time was spent in gay nightclubs and other places I probably should have stayed away from. I guess you could say I made a mess of my life.

Eventually I returned my attention to politics and current events. I started taking a greater interest in the news. I had become a Christian. I became extremely passionate and as many baby-Christians do I was full-force and overly excited. I became conservative, a far-right conservative that even dabbled in the world of conspiracy theory.

I decided to go back to school. This was difficult for me because there are so many different topics that I am genuinely interested in. I wanted to become a dentist, study theater to become a better actor, an electrician, an economist, a politician, and so this led me to taking a bunch of courses with no real established goal in mind. I was scatterbrained and still am in many ways but I finally decided on Chemistry and Math. I cannot tell you that I was some amazing, excellent student but I can say that I had a passion for learning about those topics. Still, what I had learned from the previous years of my life carried with me and I was a person who was all ego. I became more concerned with how I looked, being funny, being shocking, and consequently I was still reckless.

The benefit of going to college eventually paid off in many ways. Though I was even more convinced of my conservative ideology, I finally began to see the absurdity of conspiracies. Learning Physics was like opening a door to reality and discovering the deception that is put out by conspiracy peddlers. For example, everything that was said about 9/11 was patently FALSE. Further investigation revealed that the so-called "scientist" who was backing the conspiracy claims of 9/11 and routinely cited as an authority was actually some crackpot who studied "cold-fusion" which is so completely laughable, I was appalled and embarrassed of my previous ignorance. One by one, each and every claim made by these snake oil vendors proved not only to be bogus but also overtly silly.

Today, I am more moderate. I got married, had a baby girl (who is absolutely amazing), got divorced, and  had to start my life all over. I consider myself to be a modern-day conservative. I'm a little more focused now that I have decided to write. I find myself at odds with many on the right or far right. I am and have been a vegetarian for over 10 years now and while I cannot for the life of me figure out why my diet has anything to do with politics, I am amazed at the animosity that comes from my fellow conservatives each time I reveal this about myself.

Another problem that often presents itself amongst me and my fellow conservatives is how much false and misleading information many are duped into posting on social media sites. I have fallen into this trap as well since not everything I have posted in the past has been thoroughly vetted. Originally I was very quick to just trust that many things were indeed true but I have been burned many times by being careless. I cannot say I will never make mistakes in my future however, I believe in taking full responsibility, admitting when I am wrong, and devoting more time into researching the claims that are put forth by questionable sources. What may seem valid on the surface can end up being very deceiving. Continuing the cycle of posting anything that seems to support a conservative view without verification is damaging to the conservative movement. I believe with all of my heart that there is never a reason to lie or deceive in order to demonstrate the superiority of modern conservative thought.

This page describes me in a nutshell. Hopefully this will give you some information about me so that I can connect with you. I always enjoy reading about other people and their stories so this is why I decided to return the favor.
