In an article recently posted by Melinda Henneberger (click title of this post for full article), she contends that there is talking point that has been going around amongst Obama critics, claiming he doesn't get "it" and that the "it" seems to be different for many folks. The point of the article seems to indicate that this talking point is just old and, that a man who was raised in a working class family by a single mother couldn't possibly not get "it."
So, that is the question; what is "it"? I would like to throw my two cents in and offer a definition that I'm sure others have said before me. That "it" Obama doesn't get is that this country is not filled with socialists. This country still has a majority of people that value freedom and, know that freedom does not come about when you have a government that is more interested in trying to "protect us" from cradle to the grave.
Oh, it's not just Obama who doesn't get "it." Many people like Pelosi do not get "it" either. I would go as far as to say that all of the democrat Senators and House members who voted for the ridiculous health care bill, which is only meant to destroy private care, don't seem to get "it" either.
Also, it's not like Obama grew up in a normal single parent household. He grew up around political activists. His major influences were communists. Known communists. His associates, friends, his old pastor, ect...all of these people subscribe to a far left, radical, lunatic fringe ideology.
It's one thing to disagree with a democrat on various issues. People know that I am pretty radical myself but, in the end, I know things have to meet at a middle point. I understand that people have to work with one another. I wouldn't say we just shut down all social programs immediately. Most Americans understand that there has to be some middle ground. Obama does NOT.
Obama and his party have made it quite clear these last 2 years they have no interest in finding middle ground, or working with the Republicans on any issues, especially major issues like health care. Instead, the 2700 page bill, which I doubt was read in full by anyone that voted for it, was forced through without any debate. Yet, Obama and the democrats are shocked by what happened this last, first Tuesday, of this month?
Yes, I would say he doesn't get "it" and that's not just a talking point, Ms. Henneberger. That's the truth.
