Years ago, I used to frequent a conservative message board. It was actually pretty balanced. I would say most people there were libertarians and atheists. There were a few, off-the-wall-Michael Moore-type liberals, some moderate liberals, and a few of us hard-core conservatives. Overall, most folks were right of center.
So, I made a comment about democrats, in general. I will try and paraphrase what I wrote, to the best of my memory:
The thing that bothers me most about liberals/democrats is they are either the very, rich elite, that purposefully play upon the poor and ignorant or, they are simply the lowest common denominator of society, that is being played upon and used by the rich elite.
Think about it, most of them are poor, depressed, on some type of anti-depressant, or they are self-medicating on marijuana, drunk, ect. You name it. They've got more issues than a magazine stand and they can't, for the life of them, figure out why. Everything is someone else's fault. They've created a world of problems for themselves and those around them. It's no wonder they are depressed and angry all the time! They actually believe they have no control over their own lives.
Well, some troll from the DU found my post and went "ape-sh!t"! A whole thread was dedicated to my post but, the best part? The comments were hIGH-larious! People were saying things like, "So what if I'm on anti-depressants. It doesn't make me stupid!" and, "Who cares if I smoke weed? That doesn't mean anything."
Well, what can I say? I wouldn't say that about ALL liberals; I do know a few that I love and have some great debates with but, many, I just can't get over how they act.
I have a very old, best friend that I simply adore and, she is extremely smart. When I'm talking to her, she sounds just like a conservative. When I ask her about issues, she sides with the conservative. I then ask her, why the hell she's a democrat and, I am met with such anger from her or, "We're not talking about this." In her mind, "Dems good, Republicans bad" and that's it.
That mentality was beat into the heads of many people in this country and, it just hasn't gone away. It's so sad when people refuse to think for themselves.
Beings that it's election day, I keep seeing people talk about how you "need to vote." Well, I don't think that at all. When you have people who are completely ignorant and, don't even know anything about politics, and what agenda their party is pushing, that is NOT an intelligent vote. For goodness sakes, if you don't like politics, and you don't pay any attention to what's going on, DON'T vote. Seriously. Ignorant voting is what brought us Obama. I truly mean that. The man has NO experience. He rarely even voted in the Senate and, when he did, his votes were not moderate like most Americans - they were FAR LEFT, radical votes.
No, if you're a socialist, red diaper doper baby, but can at least name the Supreme Court Justices, or you know about politics, then fine, vote. But, if you can't even name the vice president? It's your duty to NOT show up. Do the county a favor and stick to the talents and knowledge that you do have.
