Ethical to Kill Babies?

Alberto Giubilini and Francesca Minerva are the authors of a new article in the Journal of Medical Ethics that is titled, “After-birth abortion: Why should the baby live?”

Apparently the study is saying that babies are not real humans yet and should not be considered as having a right to life. Since babies are basically big fetuses, it is completely ethical to have an "after-birth" abortion.

Sick.

While accepting that many people would disagree with their arguments, he wrote: “The goal of the Journal of Medical Ethics is not to present the Truth or promote some one moral view. It is to present well reasoned argument based on widely accepted premises.”

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, he added: “This “debate” has been an example of “witch ethics” - a group of people know who the witch is and seek to burn her. It is one of the most dangerous human tendencies we have. It leads to lynching and genocide. Rather than argue and engage, there is a drive is to silence and, in the extreme, kill, based on their own moral certainty. That is not the sort of society we should live in.”

He said the journal would consider publishing an article positing that, if there was no moral difference between abortion and killing newborns, then abortion too should be illegal.

In a way, this is quite interesting because it most certainly feels like we have been approaching a direction where something like this might be tolerated.

The one thing I do agree with is the lynching and the insistence of some people who refuse to debate or have their ideas challenged. This is a strong left-leaning characteristic which is why the Paulbots do the exact same thing. The left is terrified to be confronted...Paulbots like to do the confronting. Just make sure not to respond if you really want to be read. They usually just dismiss anything you say - no matter how well-researched or informed your opinion is - and call you a neo-con or someone who loves big government.

I would love to see the article based on the idea that since there is no moral difference with killing babies and abortion, both should be illegal.

On a purely intellectual level, this report does push a person's mind to really think about why they believe what they believe. By applying more thought to your beliefs, you can learn to make better arguments.
