The Morality of the Left

I spend a lot of time reading blogs, article sites, and other news sources. After reading a story, I always make my way through the comments sections, and this is where I will find the most interesting information and become more informed about how different people are viewing current events. Many times, more comprehensive information is provided by those contributors which often prompt me to look for more knowledge. The biggest trend I find among those with left-leanings is the ever increasing call for fairness.

Routinely, those on the left will make comments concerning economic issues about how those on the right are selfish, that the rich need to "pay their fair share," that the right is filled with evil and greedy people, etc. While their ideas or views seem to suggest a nobility of some kind, their message is one rooted in judgement as well as suggesting that they and other liberals posses a superior morality compared to those on the right who "claim to be Christian." Interestingly, anyone who has ever heard criticisms from the left concerning the right in general, undoubtedly have heard the calls for Christians to be non-judgmental and improperly taking Bible verses such as, "Judge not, lest ye be judged," and suggesting that if a Christian dares make any judgement they are not adhering to their own religious laws.

When citing God's "command" not to judge, people often refer to Matthew 7:1, however, let's look at the complete Scripture in context. "Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye." (Matthew 7:1-5)
Jesus clearly says do not judge so that you will not be judged, but to whom is He speaking? He identifies His audience in verse 5 with the words "Thou hypocrite." Jesus is not forbiding Christians to judge (unless He is calling every Christian a hypocrite). He is warning that we will be held accountable for what we know. In other words, if we know enough about sinful behavior to tell others that it is wrong, then we have no excuse as to why that sin would be present in our lives. This is consistent with Paul's advice in I Corinthians 11:31-32 that we judge ourselves first so that we will not be judged. As Jesus says in verse 5, we should cast the beam out of our own eye and then we are in position to point out the fault to others.
In truth, God does not forbid us to judge, but He sets up conditions wherein we must judge.

In order for us to think and navigate our way through life, we must have ideas, rules, and an ability to judge and make proper judgments. It is not good enough for man to simply memorize the words of others, mimic the ideas and thoughts of what we should think; we must be active in our thoughts by shaping them using love that is given from G-d and knowing how to discern right from wrong -- judging behaviors. This is the only way to understand morality and become moral.

When someone is making a judgment concerning a person's relationship with G-d, while simultaneously declaring that the rich are being greedy by not paying their fair share, that is hypocrisy. Beliefs in moral relativism seem to give those on the left a "pass" for their judgments. To them, their judgments are not only above G-d's or other Christians but, ultimately they declare themselves to be superior. From this belief they feel justified using the force of the government to carry out their ultimate judgement, in this case -- taxes.

It is quite an irony and liberals never understand their own contradiction. The far left  are always more than willing to express their hatred of judgment while complaining about the "religious right" and how they should keep their morals to themselves. "Stop pushing your morals upon everyone!" This comment is often found when discussing issues like abortion, homosexuality, and even drug use. "Stay out of our bedrooms," is another phrase that liberals love while they preach to us homosexuality and birth control. So which is it? How can they want us out of their bedrooms if they continue to stand in front of us with their bedroom doors wide open, offering a narrative of what goes on in their bedrooms at the same time?

The fact is, there is nothing moral about what the left does. They act and think in contradictions and their divided minds have produced egos so large that they simply cannot recognize the absurdity of their own words. Rather than make judgments about abortions and the inherent negative consequences, they judge the people who are against them and ask government to carry out their will.

In the case of businesses having to pay more in taxes due to the recent healthcare law, they suggest that companies who do not want to pay are acting as evil entities who should worry more about people rather than profit. Who gave them the right to decide the amount of money a person should make in profits? Obviously their "morals" are okay to push upon the rest of us. Essentially they are forever arguing that only they can make judgments and if others have different judgments those are automatically inferior.

The liberal will go even further in their illogical "judgement." If you are a democrat, you can cheat on your wife, not pay your taxes, rape a woman, lie to the people, do anything necessary to demonize your opponent, hell you can even leave a woman to die, and just about anything else that a normal person would find deplorable -- even to them --because if on the other hand you happen to be Republican and you dare do one of those things, you will be demonized for life.

Let us also consider that liberals in this country elected a former Klan wizard (Robert Byrd), who even used the "n" word on TV, into the Senate for years yet Sarah Palin, a woman who was even a whistle-blower for her own party that fought against crony capitalism, is considered a dummy, an idiot, and just about any other mean, rude insult that comes to the illogical mind of a liberal.

Judgments are only useful if they are consistent in morality, based in logic, and ultimately come from a loving heart -- not an angry one. If anyone is interested in developing a truly moral society, then we only need to look no further than ourselves. The only person that any of us truly have any control over is ourselves. If we see immoral behavior, we must ask ourselves if we are behaving responsibly and morally. We must see ourselves as part of the whole. Our freedom is contingent upon our ability to make moral judgments concerning behavior and the only point at which we can begin is within ourselves.

If the left demands others to be fair, it should be obvious that they demand of themselves to be fair, rather than call upon the government to impose their desires of others, while constantly demanding their opponents to adhere to standards they do not even adhere to themselves.
