Obamacare "architect" Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel enters the ring with Megyn Kelly.
The only conclusions I can come to are the two that I have been saying all along -- either Obama is deceitful or he is merely incompetent. Perhaps there is another conclusion and I am "missing" something but I cannot understand how he thought people would not have their insurance policies cancelled. Exploding rates, higher standards, and legislation that was created to affect the whole, it was just foolish for him to tell people they could keep their coverage if they liked it. Did he intentionally leave out that they could only keep their coverage IF it met the new standards? Did he know this and gloss over it like a snake-oil salesman? Or did he really not understand the bill he signed into law?
According to what I have read (because I was not available to watch), Obama has apparently addressed the nation and told us that he will make it so people will be able to keep their current healthcare but, how can he promise this? Obamacare is law; didn't he and his administration make that clear repeatedly? How can he just arbitrarily change something that is not up for a vote in Congress? It doesn't make much sense, unless this is an executive order. I will wait to comment further because there is obviously something missing here but so far the promises from Obama have been anything but promising.

Jon Stewart and Charles Krauthammer
I was browsing YouTube and came across this video. I'm glad I did. As always, Krauthammer is brilliant. In this debate/discussion/interview with Jon Stewart he does a brilliant job at explaining the Obama heath care law and why so many conservatives oppose it.
Jon is also brilliant and I appreciate how he expresses himself and his ideas as well. I don't often agree with Stewart but I do think he's hilarious and he really does seem to think about what he believes, rather than just spouting off the typical liberal rhetoric that we are so used to hearing. Both of them really make an effort to be respectful of one another and demonstrate how most of us would like our politicians to discuss issues.
Enjoy!

Maybe Pelosi Just Never Had a Brain to Begin With
I have long suspected that Nancy was without a brain and I think this latest clip is the firm confirmation of that opinion.
I'm not sure what Nancy is thinking here. Does she really believe that people who will get their hours cut in half will somehow magically feel liberated? If anything, these people will go into a panic that will most assuredly drive them to a clinic. Good thing they will have Obamacare, right?
Healthy physically, unhealthy financially.
It is important for all people to have a healthy mind, body, and spirit but, how much should the government get involved in these things? I say there should be a balance. Help, but don't help so much that you suffocate another area of development. When people are now reporting a risk of losing half of their work week because of a bill, I think it's time to take a step back and do some questioning and some adjusting, not push forward bulldozing everything in the way.
California is an expensive state to live in. Of course Pelosi will not experience a cut in her pay. In fact, she herself is against taking a pay cut. She's a millionaire and so are many people who live in California but apparently she is not aware that many others are not. Families all across America are struggling and it's hard to find a job, even with an education.
Since many companies have already announced that they will be cutting hours, these workers will most likely have to search out and find a second job. Working two jobs can be extremely stressful. I know.
Ideally a person will have to get up in the morning, go to their first job, then they will have to find a second job that will start later in the day. Obviously a time gap will be needed to allow for a change of clothes and driving to the next place of employment. Though the worker may find two jobs that will cover 8 hours a day, it may be over the span of 9 to 10 hours or even more, if the hours do not match up ideally. For parents, this will be even more stressful. Making sure children are able to get to school on time and be picked up. What about school activities -- academic or sports? Who will have time to go see their child play or perform? This doesn't even touch upon the fact that parents will be so worn out by day's end, they will not want to cook or have much time to spend with their children. Where does this leave them? No time for the gym; no time for proper meals; no time to parent their children, but not to worry, if you can squeeze in time, you can spend your night waiting to see the doctor for free!
Am I exaggerating? I don't think I am. Tell me I'm wrong. Tell me this is just me being unfair. No really. I want someone to tell me that I am wrong and show me how. I beg of you because after hearing about how so many companies will be going to part time employment, I am very concerned. I myself had to take up a part time job to recover from my loss of a full time writing job. The work was no longer there for me. The person that I worked for simply didn't have any more work. Such is life but I needed some guaranteed money. As it turns out, part time work was all I could find. I am lucky. I can afford to do so and still write part time but, I know many people who cannot afford that luxury. If their hours are cut, they will definitely suffer and be desperate to find a full time job. Even if there are plenty of them, many of them will require skills and/or education that they may not have.
I pray I am wrong.
During an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union,” host Candy Crowley read Pelosi part of a letter signed by union goon James Hoffa Jr. that described Obamacare’s impact on employers as a way to “destroy the foundation of the 40-hour work week.”Pelosi's response?
Some parts of Obamacare need to be clarified, she acknowledged, but losing that 40-hour work week will really free Americans to “pursue your happiness … follow your passion.”
“Overwhelmingly, for the American people, this is a liberation,”You'll have to see it to believe it, so that's why I went ahead and found a link where the video was posted.

Romney Wins Debate, Obama Has a Meltdown
Let me first start off by saying, I truly thought this debate would be a close call. I calculated that if you liked Romney, you would think Romney won and if you liked Obama, you would think Obama won. I can proudly and clearly state with full confidence that Romney kicked Obama's ASS!
So, let's do a recap of what happened tonight...

Justin Bieber Calls America Evil
Photograph by Terry Richardson for RollingStone.com
Born in Canada, Justin Bieber says that our country is evil because, we have to worry about medical care expenses. According to Justin, the health care system in Canada is great and no one ever has to worry.
Wow. Thanks Justin. You're so wise.
The Canadian-born Bieber never plans on becoming an American citizen. "You guys are evil," he says with a laugh. "Canada's the best country in the world. We go to the doctor and we don't need to worry about paying him, but here, your whole life, you're broke because of medical bills. My bodyguard's baby was premature, and now he has to pay for it. In Canada, if your baby's premature, he stays in the hospital as long as he needs to, and then you go home."
Interesting that Canada wouldn't exist without the US. Even more interesting is how Canadians are constantly coming here for medical care. I wonder how he responds to that? Of course, no one would ask him.

Senate Repeals Part of Health Care Law

In a strong bipartisan vote, part of the health care bill was successfully repealed.
The Senate voted Wednesday for the first time to repeal a piece of President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul, rolling back a new tax reporting requirement that’s been universally panned by business owners.

Don't Fund It!
Reuters – Senate Minority leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) speaks during an interview with Reuters in Washington, …
Now that the Republicans have made big gains the House, they are coming up with strategies to block Obama's health care bill. It will be more than just calling for a repeal, which would likely be vetoed by Obama and the still majority democrat Senate.
So, the next wisest strategy would be to not fund it. It's as simple as that.
More realistically, McConnell said Republicans, who will hold a majority in next year's House of Representatives, should aim to hobble the healthcare law by "denying funds for implementation" of the measure. Annual spending bills for agencies, including ones that implement the healthcare law, are normally written first in the House.
Democrats accused Republicans of putting the interests of large corporations ahead of families.
No, actually it's the American people that don't want it. See, we were unaware that you were going to pass 2700 pages of a bill that would ration our health care, along with giving the Secretary of Health and Human Services a carte blance on imposing any and all restrictions at their discretion.
No, the Republicans are actually the ones putting the people first. Ummm...that's why they won.
"It speaks volumes that the first thing on Republicans' 'to do' list is to give power back to big health insurance companies," said Jim Manley, a spokesman for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.
Again with the lies. No, Harry, we wanted to open up the competition between companies selling health insurance. This way we don't have states where only 3 companies are allowed to compete.

Boeing Cites Obama Care For Cost Hikes
Boeing has recently told their employees that the cost for insurance will rise; they cite the new Obamacare laws as the reason for the price hike.
In a letter mailed to employees late last week, the company cited the overhaul as part of the reason it is asking some 90,000 nonunion workers to pay significantly more for their health plan next year. A copy of the letter was obtained Monday by The Associated Press.I used to work for Boeing, through a subcontractor. I think this is going to be quite a surprise for their "left leaning" employees living in Seattle. I admit, I'm pointing and laughing, getting ready to say, "I told you so!" Only problem is, the new laws effect everyone, not just the liberal dummies who thought only good could come from the democrats.
"The newly enacted health care reform legislation, while intended to expand access to care for millions of uninsured Americans, is also adding cost pressure as requirements of the new law are phased in over the next several years," wrote Rick Stephens, Boeing's senior vice president for human resources.Click title of post for full story.
Boeing said annual deductibles and copayments will increase for all its plans next year. It's not that the issue of health care didn't need to be addressed. The costs are unbearable for many Americans but, it seems so odd to me that we didn't allow for more competition to drive down costs. Instead, the government wanted to weave in a plan that will lead to total take over of our health care, selling it as competition.
Deductibles, the share of medical costs that employees pay annually before their plan kicks in, will go up to $300 for individuals, an increase of $100. For families, the new deductible will be $900, an increase of $300.

Missouri Says No to Obama
stltoday.com
Missouri passes Prop C. This is an initiative that was placed on the ballot that allows for MO to be exempt from the part of the health care bill that requires citizens to purchase health insurance.
"It's the vote heard 'round the world," said Dwight Janson, 53, from Glendale, clad in an American flag-patterned shirt. Janson said he went to one of the first Tea Party gatherings last year and hopped on the Proposition C bandwagon because he wanted to make a difference.Click title for full story.
Florida, Arizona, and Oklahoma also have similar initiatives that they will be voting on in November.
The question that is being brought up now is, will Obama spend our federal tax money to sue Missouri? He doesn't like anyone disagreeing with him, that's for sure. Expect to hear of a lawsuit soon. I'm betting on it coming.

Win in Virginia - Healthcare Challenged
Reuters
Is forcing residents of the state of VA to have health insurance constitutional? This is the question that is being put up in front of the courts. On Monday, U.S. District Judge Henry Hudson, ruled that the state has a case. Obama's administration may actually have to be forced to justify what they have done by passing the health care bill. On what constitutional grounds did they feel this could be passed?
Did Obama pass a bill that is unconstitutional? Umm...I would say, "yes." I also think this could, hopefully, open up a whole can of worms forcing us to look at other bills that are unconstitutional.
"This healthcare bill is a monstrosity and will be a big issue in the fall," Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell told Reuters in an interview after the ruling. "We would repeal it and replace it were we given enough votes to do that."
"This lawsuit is not about healthcare, it's about our freedom and about standing up and calling on the federal government to follow the ultimate law of the land -- the Constitution," said Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli.
Now this is interesting:
Virginia also argued that because the Constitution does not allow the government to force a person to purchase something, therefore the federal government also would be powerless to levy a penalty or tax for failing to buy healthcare coverage.
The Obama administration has countered that the government always has the ability to levy taxes and that the Constitution places the federal government's powers over the states.
But...
Uh-oh. Looks like Obama is going to have to change the argument. First he absolutely rejected that notion but, now he has to argue that it is a tax in order for it to be constitutional? I am hoping these words will come back to haunt him, in court. The fact is, the Democrats LIED to us, in order to pass this bill. Plain and simple.
Check out my previous post about the lies this administration has told concerning health care.

My Problem With Abortion
Besides the fact that Roe v. Wade is simply bad law, it seems as though the government is now adding more problems to this issue.
One of the reasons that the health care billed stalled, had to do with the language of abortion that was located within the bill. From my current understanding, the government will be covering abortions, if the pregnancy is due to rape, incest, or if the mother's life is in jeopardy.
What's my problem with this? Why do I not believe we should not pay for any abortion in this country, even if the woman is raped? You might say, as even some pro-lifers I know, "Well, rape is different." I say, we're going to have more problems.
First of all, we're going to have a whole lot more "rapes" in this country.
Think about this. If a girl knows that she can get an abortion paid for by the state, what is preventing her from saying she was raped? Will the doctor's be required, by law, to report the rape? If they are, isn't a person in this country innocent until proven guilty? Legally, you would have to have a trial for this man, find him guilty, and then the abortion could occur.
Unfortunately, this is not going to occur. The abortion will take place beforehand and what if the accused is found innocent? Then what will happen? Will the girl be forced to pay the government back? Will restitution be made in some way? What about the damage this will do to many men in this country who will be accused of rape, all so a girl can get an abortion tab paid for?
I wouldn't be so cynical of people, had I not had my share of run-ins with some severely screwed up folks. People will do anything to avoid paying for something and, you know they are, for the most part, irresponsible already. (No, not all cases, but most).
There is no reason for the government to be involved with abortion at all. I see nothing but headaches. What about those of us that do not believe in abortion in any case? Why does our money have to go towards any abortion?
Also, not to get too far off topic but, this leaves me to mention, organ transplants. You have to remember there are folks that do not believe in organ transplants. This is another topic entirely but, the point I'm trying to make should be obvious. Heath care, in a "universal sense" may have great intentions but, ultimately restricts people's religious views and, is a complete violation of our first amendment rights.

Sunday Vote For Health Care
Democrats are planning their push for the health care bill that is set to be voted on Sunday.
The bill would force you to carry insurance by the year 2014 or, face the consequences, which we all know now is jail but, the AP decided to gloss over that.
There are a group of democrats that are standing together to oppose, simply because, they are standing against the language in the bill concerning abortion. They want NO federal funds going to abortion.
Two more democrats have signed on. One is Rep. Betsy Markey, D-Colorado, who is siting deficit cuts. This is quite amazing since, in the bill, more money will be going to all the states for Medicade.
How does one get the idea that more spending, more coverage, more pork, will facilitate a deficit cut? This logic is absurd.
Yes, you have to spend money to make money but, the government spending money for all these years has only proved that more deficit is around the corner.

Obama Continues to Push Health Care
Looks like Obama isn't giving up on his health care. He plans to take his message to the people. It looks like his own party is split on a few issues like abortion and, the differences between the democrats in the House and those in the Senate.
It is also being reported that a protest is being planned. This protest will take place at the health insurance industry's annual Washington policy conference. Apparently, they are planning on performing citizen's arrests of representatives from the insurance industry.
Arrest them? For what? Some of these folks have gone way too far. It is clear that if you do not conform to the will of Obama, people are going to do what they can to make you do so. The intolerance and ignorance that is being displayed by the left is mind boggling. How do people not see it?

GOP Remains Skeptical of Obama's Health Care Plan
"This is a clever tactic by the president to try to put the Republicans on the defensive," said John Feehery, a GOP consultant and former congressional aide. "There's a vast ideological gulf" between the two parties on health care, he said, making it likely that the Feb. 25 half-day meeting will be more showmanship than substance.
Click title of post for full article.
"What I want to do is to look at the Republican ideas that are out there," Obama said. "And I want to be very specific. 'How do you guys want to lower costs? How do you guys intend to reform the insurance markets so people with preexisting conditions, for example, can get health care? How do you want to make sure that the 30 million people who don't have health insurance can get it?'"
I guess throwing them in jail is the answer!
I suppose we'll have to wait and see what this is all about but, no one can blame the Republicans for being cautious of Obama; they should be. Does anyone really believe he's planning on listening to Republicans?
Oh, and I love this quote:

"I think the greatest risk for Democrats is passing nothing," said Rep. Gerry Connolly, D-Va. "There are a lot of things the public may not support in a given moment, but later on, when things have quieted down, they may think of highly."
An overhaul of U.S. health care could fit that description, he said.
So, I guess just push whatever through and damn the people, they'll learn to love it? Astounding.

Ben Nelson Tells Nebraska He Did The Right Thing
Well, I tried finding the commercial on youtube but, I haven't found it.
It's running currently in NE. It's basically just Mr. Nelson telling us that he compromised. He didn't want to do just nothing but, felt he had do something and he protected Medicare while decreasing the deficit.
What?
Yeah. He says that his vote decreased the deficit. No, really. I'm not kidding. Then, the commercial immediately ends.
No, really he says that the vote decreased the deficit! How? How? Why would you ask, "how"? I have no idea how. None. Absolutely no idea how his vote could have possibly decreased the deficit.
Amazing.
I used to really like Ben Nelson. I didn't agree with him on everything but, a democrat in NE is nothing like the slime of liberal demoncraps you would find in states like CA or NY. No, you could say he's like a Republican from those states. Not to mention, I happen to know some democrats in this state that are involved with politics. They are extremely wonderful, gracious people. (In fact, one of the women I know, was very good friends with my mother. She helped our family in so many ways; we are truly grateful to have her in our lives.) These folks are liberal but, not over-the-top. This last vote however, has made me see Mr. Nelson in a completely different light. I'm very sad to see him sell his vote and even more angry that he goes on tv to defend his position by lying to the people of this state.
Mr. Nelson, I for one, cannot wait for your departure from office. You should be ashamed of yourself.

A Must Read Letter
Senator Carl Levin,
As a practicing physician I have major concerns with the health care bill before Congress. I actually have read the bill and am shocked by the brazenness of the government's proposed involvement in the patient-physician relationship. The very idea that the government will dictate and ration patient care is dangerous and certainly not helpful in designing a health care system that works for all. Every physician I work with agrees that we need to fix our health care system, but the proposed bills currently making their way through congress will be a disaster if passed.
I ask you respectfully and as a patriotic American to look at the following troubling lines that I have read in the bill. You cannot possibly believe that these proposals are in the best interests of the country and our fellow citizens.
Page 22 of the HC Bill: Mandates that the Govt will audit books of all employers that self-insure!

Senator, I guarantee that I personally will do everything possible to inform patients and my fellow physicians about the dangers of the proposed bills you and your colleagues are debating.
Furthermore, if you vote for a bill that enforces socialized medicine on the country and destroys the doctor-patient relationship, I will do everything in my power to make sure you lose your job in the next election.
Respectfully,
Stephen E. Fraser, MD
