Thoughts About Orlando

My mind is rushing through so many thoughts and has been for several days now. I'm not even sure where to begin but first, I will say that I offer my condolences to the victims who survived and their friends and family as well as the friends and family who are now missing a loved one due to this tragedy.

Here we are days later and we now know more of the facts that occurred and the person who was behind this massacre.

Omar Mateen, 29-year-old American-born was on an FBI watchlist for years before this event occurred. He was killed in a police shootout. Omar's ex-wife describes him as violent and disturbed. His father hosts a show based out of Los Angeles and it is said he has expressed appreciation for the Afgan Taliban.

Zimmerman Trial Continues -- Reasonable vs. The Irrational

Last Friday the prosecution for the George Zimmerman trial rested their case but not before they called Sybrina, Trayvon's mother, stating that the screams she heard on the 911 call were that of her son, and the medical examiner, Dr. Shiping Bao who basically offered us nothing; the torch was passed on to the defense to begin their side.

Guns -- My Response

Well, I have a friend who posted something on my Facebook wall tonight and it most certainly inspired me to respond. However, I must note that the response I posted here is a little "fixed up" in that I corrected some grammar and spelling. I will start by saying that my friend is fairly reasonable, not someone who is out to take everyone's guns but, I do believe a bit naive. He found an article that was written by someone else and the author is unknown but, it also appears to be fairly rational however you'll have to read it for yourself.

The Land of Hypocrisy -- Hollywood

It amazes me that people in Hollywood always seem to be on top of certain issues that are by their very definition, anti-American. They seem to support many policies that run contrary to what they represent. They lash out at the very wealthy for not paying their "fair share" in taxes, yet they themselves have ever-growing bank accounts, VIP privileges, and no one, and I mean NO ONE is stopping them from sending in more money to the government. In fact, some of them have even been busted for avoiding taxes. They jump on environmental causes while they themselves jet around the world. Like any good liberal they also love to use children, women, and minorities in order to show how truly wonderful they are. For them just feeling a certain way is what makes them better, more open-minded, and enlightened.

Moore Hypocrisy

The story of Moore's body guard being caught at JKF Airport with a hand gun has resurfaced, primarily due to Moore's recent attacks on guns (AGAIN) pertaining to the tragedy that occurred in CT.

So is he calling his body guard a coward?

Currently Moore is on his Twitter peddling his Bowling for Columbine -- that piece of filthy propaganda he likes to call a documentary. Just the fact that this man still has followers is full proof how little people do their own research and learn the truth about so many things concerning guns, healthcare, capitalism, and war. The man is an outright LIAR and has been repeatedly exposed, even by people who initially liked him.

Moore is not alone in his hypocrisy. It seems what is good for Hollywood is not good for the rest of us. They believe only their lives are valuable enough to be at risk and require protection. The rest of us should just surrender ourselves to home intruders and others who are willing to cause us harm. Most all of Hollywood and all government officials are protected by guards who are ARMED with GUNS. The fact they want to preach to everyone else about having guns is appalling to me and should be appalling to everyone. The one issue that we ALL should agree on is having the natural right to protect ourselves and our families. For anyone to advocate otherwise and then have their own lives and families protected by guns is obviously a sign of someone suffering from some severe mental issues.

Tell ya what...I'll give up my gun when the president and all the other anti-gun lawmakers give up their armed guards. That includes all the dim-witted Hollywood celebs and their gun toting body guards. Sounds fair enough to me. Let's see how quick they are to give up THEIR protection.

Guns -- When the Left Attacks

Whenever I see a tragedy unfold that belongs under the title of "gun violence," I know that the next topic that left wingers will bring up is the famous "gun control" argument they are obsessed with. Their arguments are similar and filled with displaced emotion. To wit:

Obama Avoids Assault Weapons Ban

Well, it looks like Obama is doing something right so, I don't mind giving some credit where it is due. Obama had previously criticized Bush for not renewing a ban on assault weapons.

Obama's silence on the issue is a change from earlier in his career. During a debate while running for Senate in 2004, he said: "I think it's a scandal that this president did not force a renewal of this assault weapons ban."

It appears as though he is now avoiding this issue. Although, this could just be political because, the democrats are acknowledging that  discussing gun control usually results in them losing elections.

There's nothing to discuss here. We have the right to protect ourselves.

Michael Moore Tells Us We're Just Violent

Michael Moore tries to reason why we don't need guns.




My favorite part is where he says that many of the people that have guns, live in areas where there's not much crime. Yeah, Michael, that's how it works BONE HEAD. People typically don't rob places where they know the owner of the home has a gun. The idea of robbing is to get away ALIVE with the loot.

Then he carries on about other BS statistics. I don't know where he's getting these numbers from.

Good News in Ohio For the GOP

In a recent poll taken by Reuters/Ipsos, Rob Portman, a formal senior official for President George W. Bush, is showing a commanding lead for the Senate seat in Ohio. Democrat Lee Fisher is far behind, 50 percent for Portman and, a dismal 37 percent for Fisher.

"Portman is really solidifying his lead -- it's starting to look insurmountable," Ipsos pollster Chris Jackson said. "Fisher hasn't been able to raise his profile enough to make a dent."

The Democrats have been trying to attack Portman for his previous work with the Bush administration, attempting to attach a stigma upon him by declaring his service will bring about the previous Bush tax-era. The only problem is, most people want those low taxes to continue for ALL Americans. There's also the problem of Bush never tanking the economy the way Obama and the Democrats have done since gaining full control over the Executive and Legislative branches of government.

Right to Bear Arms

The Supreme Court ruled on a 5-4 decision that the Second Amendment provides for a fundamental right to own guns and, that state and local laws cannot violate that.

5-4 decision? Are you kidding me? If this Kagen was on the Supreme Court now, do you realize the vote would be the other way around? How is it that anyone could make the decision that we do not have the fundamental right to bear arms?! Have we fallen this far in America?

I am shocked and appalled the decision was not unanimous.

You Shouldn't Own a Gun

Yes, you read that right. You are going to hurt yourself or people around you, so you shouldn't own a gun. Especially if you live in a "good neighborhood." You have no business owning a gun.

This is pretty much the gist of what a friend of mine has told me this evening. I'm not kidding. Now, I love my friend and the last thing in the world I want to do is start a fight but, I was pretty shocked by what she was saying.

She, of course, spouted all the liberal lies about guns and, how dangerous they are and so many accidents happen when people have guns. Some others had popped in with support about how many suicides could just be avoided if no one owned a gun. It was laughable, to say the least. It always amazes me how naive some folks are. As if guns are the cause of suicide.

I had to respond. I tried to explain that the "bad guys" always have guns, that I have been a victim of a gun crime, that having a gun for self defense is one of the only ways to assure protection of yourself, that guns are the first thing leaders like Hitler, Stalin, and Mao took away from people, ect.

She responded that it's okay for cops to have guns.

So, I just left it at that. How do you even answer someone that is clearly NOT seeing the major problem with a government having guns but, the people cannot? She also hates the war, and Bush of course. This is pretty much typical banter from people who just can't quite seem to grasp the idea that there is a wisdom behind people being allowed to protect themselves.

Unfortunately, she is not understanding that cops cannot be there every second of the day. They are not body guarding each citizen. When you have someone who is breaking into your home, by the time the cops get there, you and your family could be dead! A cop isn't going to save you or your family.

Also, I found it odd that when someone challenged her, she determined that they live in " a good neighborhood" and don't need a gun. She evidently doesn't understand that crime can happen and, does happen, in almost any area you may live in. Then, she also included that only people in authority understand how to use a gun and everyone else must not know the safety involved in owning a gun.

The lies that are told to people can really have people believing the most illogical things. Most the folks, like my friend, are wonderful, nice, well-intentioned people, but, they simply don't have the correct facts in order to form a correct opinion.
