This is quite interesting!
In a stunning move, the U.S. Supreme Court has scheduled another "conference" on a legal challenge to Barack Obama's eligibility to occupy the Oval Office, but officials there are not answering questions about whether two justices given their jobs by Obama will participate.
The court has confirmed that it has distributed a petition for rehearing in the case brought by attorney John Hemenway on behalf of retired Col. Gregory Hollister and it will be the subject of a conference on March 4.
It was in January that the court denied, without comment, a request for a hearing on the arguments. But the attorney at the time had submitted a motion for Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan, who were given their jobs by Obama, to recuse.
Should Obama ultimately be shown to have been ineligible for the office, his actions, including his appointments, at least would be open to challenge and question.
At the time, the Supreme Court acknowledged the "motion for recusal" but it changed it on official docketing pages to a "request." And it reportedly failed to respond to the motion.
Hemenway then submitted a request for a rehearing, pointing out that the situation appeared to be violating the rules of the U.S. Supreme Court.
The Illinois Supreme Court ruled that Rahm Emanuel can stay on the ballot for Chicago mayor.
"The voters deserved the right to make the choice of who should be mayor. And I think what the Supreme Court said was basically, in short, that the voters will make the decision who should be mayor. Nobody else should make it for them,” a victorious Emanuel said after slapping backs and shaking hands with commuters at the Clark and Lake elevated train stop near his downtown headquarters. “Some will vote for me, some will vote against me and that’ll be true for all the candidates. But that, ultimately, this decision about who should be the next mayor is for the voters to decide.”

Not that I have a problem with women in power, I'm a woman myself but, do all three of these women, now on The Supreme Court (
Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Sandra Sotomayor), have to be leftist scum, hell bent on destroying this country from the bench?
The justices are expected to start work Monday by denying many of the nearly 2,000 appeals that piled up in recent months. The court also is hearing argument in a bankruptcy dispute and an appeal by criminal defendants seeking shorter prison terms.

Elena Kagan will most likely be confirmed today as the 4th-ever female judge to serve for the US Supreme Court.
Republicans have harshly criticized Kagan, 50, as a political activist who would be unable to put aside her liberal views and render impartial decisions. Democrats defend the former Harvard Law School dean as a highly qualified legal scholar who could help bring consensus to the polarized court.
Who cares if she was dean? She's never been a judge! Like the idiot that appointed her, she has NO experience. She's an ideologue, plain and simple. She banned the military from recruiting at Harvard, citing their "no discriminatory" policy yet, isn't it ironic that the banning IS discriminatory? Don't ask, don't tell is what the law is and she has no respect for the law. She will be a typical liberal, activist judge that ignores the cry of the people, in favor of legislating from the bench.
There is going to be a request to push back Kagen's confirmation vote by one week. The NRA is requesting people to contact Republican's to move for a filibuster. The message: STOP Kagen!
I am all for this. Having Kagen on the court would be a very scary thing. I see her as a activist, who will work hard to legislate from the bench. I do not see her as being impartial or fair at all. She clearly has an agenda and, that is exactly why Obama nominated her.

The Supreme Court ruled on a 5-4 decision that the Second Amendment provides for a fundamental right to own guns and, that state and local laws cannot violate that.

5-4 decision? Are you kidding me? If this Kagen was on the Supreme Court now, do you realize the vote would be the other way around? How is it that anyone could make the decision that we do not have the fundamental right to bear arms?! Have we fallen this far in America?
I am shocked and appalled the decision was not unanimous.

Solicitor General Elena Kagan successfully argued the government's case in front of the Supreme Court. Kagan has now been nominated to replace the retiring Justice John Paul Stevens.
Kagan in January compared the government's power to commit sexual predators to its power to quarantine federal inmates whose sentences have expired but have a highly contagious and deadly disease.
"Would anybody say that the federal government would not have Article I power to effect that kind of public safety measure? And the exact same thing is true here. This is exactly what Congress is doing here," she said.
Justice Clarence Thomas dissented from the court's judgment, saying Congress can only pass laws that deal with the federal powers listed in the Constitution.
Nothing in the Constitution "expressly delegates to Congress the power to enact a civil commitment regime for sexually dangerous persons, nor does any other provision in the Constitution vest Congress or the other branches of the federal government with such a power," Thomas said.
Thomas was joined in part on his dissent by Justice Antonin Scalia.
Now, mind you, I do think, by law, Scalia and Thomas are absolutely correct. I just don't care for sexual offenders so, pardon me for not having much sympathy.

It's no surprise that Obama would be interested in nominating Kegan to the Supreme Court. She's left wing, a lawyer, former dean of Harvard Law School, never has served as a judge, and of course, the all-important factor of adding a woman.
