Zimmerman Trial Continues -- Reasonable vs. The Irrational
Last Friday the prosecution for the George Zimmerman trial rested their case but not before they called Sybrina, Trayvon's mother, stating that the screams she heard on the 911 call were that of her son, and the medical examiner, Dr. Shiping Bao who basically offered us nothing; the torch was passed on to the defense to begin their side.

Daryl Parks is Nuts
In a recent interview with Daryl Parks, Daryl reveals that Trayvon Martin may have taken the first punch but, that's okay because he was being followed by George Zimmerman. Furthermore, he believe that George is the one who was beating up Trayvon, it doesn't matter that no injuries were found. He also seems to think that somehow George should have hung in there because the police were coming and his injuries weren't all that bad.
Absolutely unbelievable. This man is an idiot. Trayvon was a loser by all accounts and for people to parade him and his actions as normal or give them justification is nothing short of pathetic.

Alyce LaViolette -- Testifying For Jodi Arias
The domestic violence expert, Alyce LaViolette is testifying in the Jodi Arias case. Under cross-examination we have learned that Ms. LaViolette has given a speech entitled, "Was Snow White a Battered Woman?"
Interestingly enough the speech raises some questions about how fairy tales affect the way children think. Ms. LaViolette points out how many fathers are absent, that females appear helpless, etc. I think we can all agree that fairy tales can have both good and bad messages attached to them. Obviously LaViolette is more interested in pointing out the negative.
The prosecutor, Martinez goes back and forth with LaViolette over information that has been previously presented. Alyce's testimony is reminiscent of Jodi's. She is difficult and abrasive. A root canal is easier to endure compared to watching her on the stand. Since Psychology is a "soft" science, meaning there are very few ways of being able to produce consistent results from one professional to another, Martinez has a fairly easy job of discrediting her. Ms. LaViolette seems to have an extensive background however she is lacking in credentials that allow her to test her subjects. She typically relies mostly on what her subjects tell her and from there she makes a determination of their situation.
In this case LaViolette was given Jodi's diary and she apparently had access to emails and text messages between Jodi and Travis and Travis and the other women he communicated with. She concluded that Jodi was a victim of domestic violence.
Martinez exposed the absurdity of this conclusion by pointing out that LaViolette had formed her opinion mostly on conversations exclusively with Jodi and other correspondences -- emails and text messages. She also concluded that these other women Travis was communicating with were vulnerable but never once spoke with them directly. Even more damaging to the defense Martinez rightly indicated that LaViolette's conclusions mean nothing if Jodi was being less than truthful with her.
Jodi was dishonest. She told LaViolette that she cut her hands while cutting apples.
Martinez pointed out that LaViolette in her own notes questioned the gas can issue since she was informed that they were borrowed for a trip to Mesa. In her notes she seemed to indicate uncertainty since she was under the impression that the trip was last minute.
The conclusions that LaViolette has come to concerning Jodi being abused greatly disturbs me. I have personally been in an abusive relationship and Jodi exhibits almost no signs of being abused but rather her behavior exposes herself as being the abuser.
Let's take a look at some of the common behaviors of abusers:
Of course it is well documented that Jodi accused Travis of being unfaithful and she has a history of accusing other men of being unfaithful to her. It is most likely that Jodi was the one who sent a "John Doe" email to the woman Travis was seeing. In this e-mail she called the woman a whore and told her to repent. I am unaware of Jodi using drugs or alcohol but her mother indicated when Jodi was a teenager she caught her growing marijuana in their home. Jodi most certainly destroyed property as she was also most likely the one who slashed Travis' tires two nights in a row. Then there is the car of his that she destroyed. Who knows if she attacked Travis' dog but it wouldn't surprise me to learn she did.
We all know Jodi used both a knife and gun to kill Travis. We also know she lured Travis into continuing a relationship with sex. She was very forward with him and was an excited, willing participant in all of their sexual encounters. Finally, the entire defense for Jodi is Jodi blaming Travis for the killing.
I cannot say with any certainty that Travis was some perfect guy. He most certainly had his flaws and it's safe to say that he exhibited jealous and controlling behaviors at times. This was a volatile relationship. Both of them appeared to be bullheaded at times but, it's clear to me that Jodi was much more of the abuser in this relationship.
I cannot understand how it is LaViolette is so blind to seeing Jodi's role as the abuser. Doesn't she know that abusers typically project their own actions on other people? Is she really so naive as to think only males can be abusers? Perhaps it is her fairy tale analogy that influences her into believing that only females experience abuse? A so-called "expert" should know that women are just as capable of abuse as men are.
Ms. LaViolette admits that Jodi displayed manipulative and deceitful behavior after the murder. Does she really believe that Jodi just became a liar after the murder? Did she forget that Jodi was calm and expressed almost no emotion during her interrogation as lie after lie spilled from her mouth? Does she really expect us to believe that all that these manipulative actions just appeared overnight? Being a liar and taking great pains to cover up her presence in AZ is not something a person does when they are otherwise considered to be honest. It is also not the behavior of someone who was defending themselves. Someone defending themselves may shoot or stab (not both), and run to a phone or escape and get to a police station. They do not run away, pretend as if they were never there, leave messages for the known deceased, call the police to fish for information, repeatedly lie for years, and then out of nowhere claim they were just defending themselves. This was not a one or two wound crime. This was multiple stabs that led to overkill -- a slashed throat and a shot to the head.
I am hoping this woman has good intentions and is not looking to gain 15 minutes of fame. I am inclined to believe that she believes what she says but I am not comfortable knowing this woman is involved in helping people deal with domestic violence. She is not thorough in her work, nor is she insightful. She is siding with the abuser, not the victim.
The fact is, Travis is dead. Travis is the one who endured 27 stab wounds, a slash across the neck from ear to ear, and a gunshot wound. He is the one who was stuffed into his shower, washed off, and left naked and dead. Jodi left with a cut to her finger.

I would like to take a moment and make mention of the Women's Center for Advancement, Omaha, NE, Formally the YWCA. They provide free counselling and domestic violence education for women and men who are in need of help. They helped me greatly in understanding what domestic violence is and taking the steps necessary to get away from the abuser.
If you or someone you know is being abused verbally, sexually, or physically seek help. Most areas have services available to you. If you would like to help people in these situations -- donate! Most places accept money, food, and clothes. Don't be a victim and help others to not be a victim either.

She even moved to Mesa after the two broke up in order to keep an eye on him. She would sneak into his house; she admitted to going to the back of his house and peering into his window while he was engaged with another woman; she snooped in his phone. Later we learn that she broke into his Facebook account. She also claims that the two of them exchanged passwords for online accounts in order to keep tabs on him.
Constantly accuses you of being unfaithful.
Prevents or discourages you from seeing friends or family, or going to work or school.
Gets angry when drinking alcohol or using drugs.
Controls all the money you spend.
Humiliates you in front of others.
Destroys your property or things that you care about.
Threatens to hurt you or the children or pets, or does cause hurt (by hitting, punching, slapping, kicking, or biting).
Uses or threatens to use a weapon against you.
Forces you to have sex against your will.
Blames you for his/her violent outbursts.

Charles Rangel Ethics Trial

Rep. Charles Rangel of New York will finally begin his ethics trial today. Rangel is being called to the carpet for not paying his taxes to Uncle Sam.
Seems like a slam dunk case to me. You would think that for someone who goes around complaining that people do not pay enough taxes, and wants to raise taxes, would actually PAY their taxes but, typical liberal...do as I say, not as I do.
Key charges portray Rangel as a veteran congressman who thought he could ignore rules on disclosing his assets, and improperly used official resources to raise money for a college center that was a monument to his career.
But an allegation that caught the public's eye was his failure to declare rental income to the IRS from a resort unit he owned in the Dominican Republic.
The charges allege violations of:
_A House gift ban and restrictions on solicitations. Rangel is accused of using congressional staff, letterhead and workspace to seek donations for the Charles B. Rangel Center for Public Service at the City College of New York. The requests usually went to charitable arms of businesses with issues before Congress, including Rangel's Ways and Means Committee.
_A U.S. government code of ethics. Several allegations fall under this code, among them: Accepting favors (the Rangel Center donations) that could be construed as influencing Rangel's congressional duties; acceptance of a rent-subsidized New York apartment used as a campaign office, when the lease said it was for residential use only; and failure to report taxable income.
_The Ethics in Government Act and a companion House rule requiring "full and complete" public reports of a congressman's income, assets and liabilities each year. Rangel is charged with a pattern of submitting incomplete and inaccurate disclosure statements. He only filed amended reports covering 1998 to 2007 after the investigative ethics panel began looking into his disclosures. He belatedly reported at least $600,000 in assets.

The jurors on the trial have stated that they have finally agreed on 2 counts. 2 counts out of 24, and 11 haven't even been touched in their deliberation.

The 11 counts the jury has yet to discuss involve wire fraud. Most of them deal with FBI wiretap recordings and the allegation that Blagojevich tried to sell or trade President Barack Obama's old Senate seat.
The jurors did not say which two of the 24 counts they had agreed on, nor what their decision was.
Well, the fact that it's taking so long does seem to look good for the defense. How sad. The defense didn't even call any witnesses. I'm in shock.

11 days of deliberating have gone by and still nothing? What kind of morons are on this jury? This should have taken them 11 minutes.
Part of the difficulty is that the alleged corruption was not as straightforward as someone walking into Blagojevich's office and plopping bags of cash bribes on his desk.
Instead, the then-governor is heard on the FBI wiretaps - the core of the government's case - talking, sometimes circuitously, about using gubernatorial decisions for personal gain.
Sorry, I'm not buying this. I think Blago has some jury influence going on. There's something really suspicious going on. The government was taping him for a reason. They had enough information that showed something corrupt was going on. They have hours and hours of him taking about all sorts of different deals AND, referring to the power of appointing someone to the Senate seat as "f#cking golden," that he's not giving it up for "nothing." Give me a break. He's guilty.

Sam Adam Jr., Blago's defense attorney is saying that he will be naming witnesses that the prosecution didn't call forward, because it would be in favor of his client. He has been instructed not to name any of those witnesses otherwise, he will be held in content.
So far, the Blagojevich defense has been weak. It seems as though they are just saying, "wasn't me."
Assistant U.S. Attorney Chris Niewoehner methodically laid out the government's allegations of how Blagojevich tried to "shake down" everyone from a racetrack owner to a children's hospital executive to Obama. He opened his remarks by repeating the most famous phrase of the seven-week trial, a quote that will be forever associated with Blagojevich.
"I've got this thing and it's (expletive) golden," he recalled Blagojevich saying on one of dozens of phone calls secretly recorded by the FBI. "I'm just not giving it up for (expletive) nothing."
So far, the Blagojevich defense has been weak. It seems as though they are just saying, "wasn't me."

In recent reports, the focus of Blagojevich has gone to his hatred of just about anyone near or around him. He doesn't seem to have a nice thing to say about anyone, including that delusional wife of his, Patti.
His targets? Obama, he can't seem to stand because of jealousy, calling him, a "(expletive) demigod." Jesse Jackson, Jr. is "...really bad." "I hate her, I hate her," he says of Carol Marin, from the Chicago Sun Times. He is heard on tape insulting, Dick Durbin (who can blame him there?), Cheryle Jackson (his former spokeswoman), Reid, Rahm Emanuel, his own wife, ect. It seems like the list goes on and on.
My favorite insult is towards the people of Illinois, the voters, the people he works for:
The defense is expected to start on Monday. I thought it would start this week but, I guess the prosecution is still wrapping up and doing their closing arguments.
One thing is for sure, this man has a absolute gutter mouth, and is filled with hatred. There is nothing endearing about this man whatsoever. How on earth did Illinois fall for this man? I can't wait to find out what his sentence will be.

Prosecutors are planning to rest their case on Tuesday. As The Alternative Conservative as already reported, the state has produced a mountain of evidence against Blagojevich. They have tapes of Blagojevich himself claiming he wants something for the Senate appointment, numerous witnesses that have testified of Blago's corruption, as well as a motive - his ever increasing debt, which a lot of the money he and his wife spent were on frivolous things like designer clothing.

Now, things should take an interesting turn this week, the defense will begin. It is being speculated that Blago will actually take the stand himself. I hope he does. He'll just bury his own grave doing so. Every time that man speaks, it's just one lie after the next.

In recordings we discover that Lucio Guerrero, who is Blago's spokesman, made a call to Blagojevich, telling him that Blago is being secretly recorded. It is being reported that Blagojevich was audible shaken up.

They told Robert Greenlee, the former deputy governor, that Blago to save face and say he was invited. Blago ultimately ended up going to the rally but, was heard complaining that he wasn't really welcomed by the Obama camp.
After discovering his 13 percent approval rating:
Now, why on earth would an innocent man be shaken up? Seems to me, he would have nothing to hide. Especially, since he has been proclaiming his innocence this whole time. What a joke!"Recordings — of me?" he finally says quietly, audibly shaken.

She was a willing participant in all of his corruption.
Later in the tape, Patti Blagojevich is heard going on about the editorial board:
"Just fire them . . . what would William Randolph Hearst do?"

Gerry Krozel, who is a road building executive, will be back on the stand today. His testimony surrounds allegations of Blagojevich shaking him down, in exchange for a 6 billion dollar project.
Blago on tape: "Lon is here with me, so we just thought we'd say hello. How are you doing? We've got this end-of-the year deadline. The rules change after Jan. 1."Krozel explains from the stand that Blago is referring to a new ethics bill that would prevent him from raising cash from people doing business with the state.
Blago on tape: "The good news is, we're off and running. We've got something going and there's going to be more."
One week before, Blago had announced a smaller, $1.8 billion project for the Illinois Tollway. The "more," Krozel says from the stand, is the promise of a bigger, $6 billion project.
Blago on tape: "The good news for you guys is -- which is the bad news for us -- after the first of the year this level of ... you know ... we won't be able to bully you guys."

Robert Blagojevich, who is Rod's brother, will testify in the trial. Robert is also being charged in the corruption of trading Obama's Senate seat, in order for Rod to obtain a position with Obama's administration.
The brother's relationship has been strained since Rod's arrest.
The FBI tapes do not include much of Robert but, plenty of Rod, who always seems to be cursing.

On Thursday, during the trial, prosecutors presented a motive for Blagojevich trying to obtain a higher level seat within the Obama administration.
Blagojevich, and his wife Patti, were spending money like crazy. Receipts from their shopping showed a fondness for designer clothing.
They were in a mountain of debt and, the tapes clearly showed that the former governor was indeed stressed about his money concerns. He can even be heard saying that he could not afford college for his daughter.

The most disturbing charge, I thought was Patti's, that was $3,800 for furs. Who the hell wears fur these days? It's just cruel to do so.

In the Blago Watch Section, it is being reported that the defense is working hard to show that Blagojevich is a man who always had the best interest in mind for the state of Illinois, even though he is someone who is known for being a hothead.
The former chief of staff for Blagojevich, John Harris is now being cross-examined by the defense. He has made it clear that Blagojevich was definitely out to use his power in order to obtain a position with the Obama administration.
Sam Adam Sr. is the defense attorney for Blagojevich.

It was also brought to light, by the FBI tapes, that Blagojevich was considering appointing Oprah Winfrey for the Senate seat.
