Win in Virginia - Healthcare Challenged

Reuters

Is forcing residents of the state of VA to have health insurance constitutional? This is the question that is being put up in front of the courts. On Monday, U.S. District Judge Henry Hudson, ruled that the state has a case. Obama's administration may actually have to be forced to justify what they have done by passing the health care bill. On what constitutional grounds did they feel this could be passed?

Did Obama pass a bill that is unconstitutional? Umm...I would say, "yes." I also think this could, hopefully, open up a whole can of worms forcing us to look at other bills that are unconstitutional.

"This healthcare bill is a monstrosity and will be a big issue in the fall," Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell told Reuters in an interview after the ruling. "We would repeal it and replace it were we given enough votes to do that."
"This lawsuit is not about healthcare, it's about our freedom and about standing up and calling on the federal government to follow the ultimate law of the land -- the Constitution," said Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli.

Now this is interesting:

Virginia also argued that because the Constitution does not allow the government to force a person to purchase something, therefore the federal government also would be powerless to levy a penalty or tax for failing to buy healthcare coverage.
The Obama administration has countered that the government always has the ability to levy taxes and that the Constitution places the federal government's powers over the states.

But...

Uh-oh. Looks like Obama is going to have to change the argument. First he absolutely rejected that notion but, now he has to argue that it is a tax in order for it to be constitutional? I am hoping these words will come back to haunt him, in court. The fact is, the Democrats LIED to us, in order to pass this bill. Plain and simple.

Check out my previous post about the lies this administration has told concerning health care.

Obama to Pull Us Out of Iraq

AP Photo/Charles Dharapak

Obama is holding true to his promise of pulling out of Iraq.

Click title of post for full story.
Nearing a milestone in the long and divisive Iraq war, President Barack Obama on Monday hailed this month's planned withdrawal of all U.S. combat troops - "as promised and on schedule" - as a major success despite deep doubts about the Iraqis' ability to police and govern their country.
Is this really a good idea?
A transitional force of 50,000 troops will remain, down from the peak of 170,000 in 2007. Their mission will be to train and advise Iraqi security forces, protect U.S. civilians, manage the chain of supplies and equipment out of Iraq and conduct counterterrorism operations.
The plan is to have us completely out by the end of 2011.

What are your thoughts as to what will be the consequences of us doing this?

Olbermann Calling Tea Party Racists

Once I see the name Keith Olbermann, I immediately roll my eyes and tonight/today is no exception. Olbermann is now criticizing an event led by the Tea Party, in Philadelphia, that wanted to focus on involving minorities.

Olbermann -
First, no, this is not your water coming to a boil. It's our nightly checkup on the something for nothing crowd, it's "Tea Time."
As you know, if you point out that the Tea Party is virtually all white, you're the racist. Of course, that does raise the interesting question of why the Tea Party would feel compelled to have what one of its leaders called a minority-based Tea Party event. A score card from the reality Saturday outside Independence Hall in Philadelphia, 18 speakers, 10 of whom were nonwhite. For the Philadelphia Inquirer, an estimated crowd of 300, about 15 of whom were nonwhite. "Not a problem," said African-American speaker David Webb, "I didn't realize that any movement everywhere had a minimum daily requirement of black people to be legitimate."
Except, given the group’s history, the fact that the majority of speakers were not white might easily explain how a low turnout, lower even than most Tea parties. Organizers had 1500 bottles of water already on ice, all ready for the crowd. And most of them went untouched. But it gets worse. According to a series of news reports, another public event in Philadelphia the day before may have drawn anywhere from twice to three times the crowd of the minority-based Tea Party event. The opening of that city's first Apple computer store.

Has Olbermann even been to Philadelphia? He realizes that whites are minorities there, doesn't he? Like Baltimore, it's a black city. They are NOT minorities there. What on earth is this guy even talking about?

Democrat Maxine Waters 3 Charges Filed

AP Photo/Charles Dharapak
Democrat, Maxine Waters, from CA (of course), will face her trial this fall. This will be right before elections in November. Karma is a nice thing, isn't it? She has three charges against her of ethical wrongdoing.

-A rule that House members may not exert improper influence that results in a personal benefit.

-The government employees' ethics code, which prohibits granting or accepting special favors, for the employee or family members, that could be viewed as influencing official actions.

-A rule that members' conduct must reflect creditably on the House.

Let's not forget who Maxine Waters is.

Obama's Take On Immigration

AP Photo/Manuel Balce Ceneta

Obama is now stating that his problem with the AZ immigration law is that it will lead to 50 states doing different things. This should be something the Federal government handles.

Okay, well that's all fair and sounds perfectly logical. In many ways, I agree but, the Federal government has done NOTHING! Even if the Federal government does pass something, or starts to enforce the laws we already have, won't it be the LOCALS that are ultimately enforcing the policy?

Why is Obama spending tax dollars to stop a state from doing what the people of that state asked them to do?

SAY NO TO AMNESTY!

Don't tell me we need to offer them a way to citizenship. There is already a way to citizenship and that's applying. These people didn't do it. Why? Mostly because they are CRIMINALS. Don't tell me they have rights. They broke the law. As with all people that break the law, very often rights are relinquished. This is NO different.  Don't tell me they come here to work and, be a part of this country. Around 30-35 percent of our prisons hold illegal immigrants for CRIMES they have committed. Many of these folks do not like America at all. They fly the Mexican flag, and speak a corrupt form of Spanish, with no interest in learning English.

SAY YES TO ENGLISH BEING DECLARED THE LANGUAGE OF THE UNITED STATES!

Adult Stem Cells - Greater Solution Compared to Embryonic

The debate over using embryonic stem cells has always been a hot topic. Many people feel very strongly about not using them because, a life must be taken in order to procure them. It is now being reported that adult stem cells are not only effective but, it seems the progress in research is well ahead and, will keep moving forward.

Everything from MS, to various heart conditions is being treated with adult stem cells. Research still continues and looks to be very promising.

Is this a surprise to anyone? I don't think it is at all. I'm not sure that you have to be a Christian, or be religious to know that taking cells from a fetus is probably not the best idea. It's just logical to me that more progress would be made by using the stem cells from the person with the ailment. This way everything matches up.

A few months ago, Dr. Thomas Einhorn was treating a patient with a broken ankle that wouldn't heal, even with multiple surgeries. So he sought help from the man's own body.

Einhorn drew bone marrow from the man's pelvic bone with a needle, condensed it to about four teaspoons of rich red liquid, and injected that into his ankle.

Four months later the ankle was healed. Einhorn, chairman of orthopedic surgery at Boston University Medical Center, credits "adult" stem cells in the marrow injection. He tried it because of published research from France.

Risks of Calcium Supplements

In a recent study, it is now being reported that calcium supplements increase risk of heart attack - by 30 percent, stroke, and even death.

Click title of post for full article.

People often take calcium to prevent osteoporosis but, it looks like more harm can come than good. The article recommends eating more food that is calcium enriched, so that it absorbs more slowly in the body, rather than taking the supplements that raise the calcium in the blood level too quickly.

I take calcium supplements. Uh-oh.

Michelle Obama to Save Our Children From Obesity

Michelle Obama is wanting The Child Nutrition Bill to be passed. The bill is supposed to set new standards and, help school cafeterias, as well as apply standards to what can be sold in vending machines.

Obesity is one of the biggest health challenges facing the United States. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says two-thirds of American adults and 15 percent of children are overweight or obese -- a condition putting them at risk of developing heart disease, diabetes and cancer.

Click title of post for full story.

I absolutely agree that there is a epidemic going on in this country when it comes to fat kids. I see them all the time. It's frightening the health problems that these children will mostly like incur. I'm not sure that this bill is going to help much. I suppose I wouldn't have much of a problem just banning vending machines or, at least high fat, high calorie foods sold in vending machines.

It would be nice if more education on health were given during courses like gym. The class is already a requirement. Why not spend some time educating children on the dangers of various foods?

What do you think?

White House Report - Medicare Savings

The White House is reporting that $8 billion will be saved in Medicare by the end of next year.

Click title of post for full article.

When you continue to read the article you find that the spending has not gone down at all and, will actually continue to rise. They are simply saying that because of the health care bill that was passed, less money, that was originally projected to be spent towards Medicare, will be spent.

So what? The money is only going to move over to other areas. There are no "savings" here. This is a big joke.

Blago Watch!

The jury is out and it seems that no matter what Blago does, he still has fans.

Even after hearing...

"(I gave) your grandmother a free (bleeping) ride on a bus. And what do I get for that? Only 13 percent of you all out there think I'm doing a good job," he says of his Illinois constituents. "So (bleep) all of you!"
... there are elders that still have come to the courthouse to show their support for the corrupt governor.

What on earth is taking this jury so long? Could it be that one of these die-hard fans is on the jury, digging their heels in, insisting this idiot is innocent?
