Rick Perry has now announced he is officially running for president.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry is running for president, a spokesman confirmed Thursday, a move certain to shake up the race for the GOP nomination much to the delight of conservatives looking for a candidate to embrace.

But Perry also has never run a national campaign before, and it's unclear whether his Texas swagger and sometimes unorthodox policy positions will sit well with GOP primary voters outside his state. Another open question is whether he can raise the money necessary to mount a strong campaign against those who have been in the race for months or more.

Well, most people have not run a national campaign before. So what? Is this the brightest observation they can find? Really?

Personally, I'm not sure if Perry is the answer The Right is looking for but, I'm positive it's not Romney. I don't want 2012 to be like the last election. We had real, solid conservatives running and we ended up nominating the most liberal pile of crap to represent the Republicans.

The problem stems from the states that have more electoral votes seem to be run by extreme liberals. They pick the candidates, as we witnessed in 2008. The states that McCain won were NOT states that Republicans would win in the presidential election. It was Huckabee that swept the Southern states and he was a far better candidate, and would have had a much greater chance of beating Obama.

Even if you want to give Obama the benefit of the doubt, this administration has been nothing short of an utter failure. Blaming Bush for everything under the sun just is no longer going to cut it. If the democrats are so much better then they had plenty of time to fix things and build the economy. They have done nothing but make our situation worse, whining and crying the entire time. Had they focused on solutions and not pointing blame, maybe they would have accomplished something.

Who Will Republicans Run?

2012 is sneaking upon us and there is still that lingering question, if Obama is out, who is going to take his place? So far, the results have come up inconclusive.

Several Republicans pondering a run in 2012 are to speak this week to a large gathering of conservatives in Washington, a chance to test their messages and generate some buzz.

A year ahead of the first state voting contests to decide who will face Obama in November 2012, no prominent Republican has formally announced a candidacy and no potential candidate has emerged as a favorite.

But plenty of politicians who can envision themselves in the Oval Office are running underground campaigns, visiting early voting states, talking to fund-raisers, organizing staffs. The first announcements are expected by March.

The Conservative Political Action Conference is to hear from a number of potential candidates on Thursday, Friday and Saturday as conservatives who have been celebrating the 100th anniversary of the birth of conservative giant Ronald Reagan search for someone who can wave his banner.

"It's one of the first times that they get to showcase their actual credentials among key constituencies and generate publicity for themselves early on in the cycle," said Republican strategist Ron Bonjean.

Among the speakers are two former governors, Mitt Romney of Massachusetts and Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota; former House of Representatives Speaker Newt Gingrich and sitting governors Haley Barbour of Mississippi and Mitch Daniels of Indiana.

Gingrich and two other possibles, Representative Michelle Bachmann and former Senator Rick Santorum speak on Thursday.

Herman Cain For President 2012

Who is Herman Cain? Well, he's running for president.

A former CEO of Godfather's Pizza and executive at Pillsbury, Cain is a conservative radio host in Atlanta who has been a popular figure on the GOP speaking circuit over the last year. Cain, who is black, is perhaps best known nationally for speaking out last year against charges made by the NAACP that the tea party is made up of "racist elements."

Last month, Cain topped a 2012 presidential straw poll organized by the conservative blog Red State, beating out the likes of Sarah Palin and Mike Huckabee. Still, Cain, who also previously headed the National Restaurant Association, has virtually no name recognition beyond the GOP grass roots and is not even a blip in most early presidential polls — not that he views that as a problem.'

In an interview Wednesday with CNN, Cain said he's been motivated all of his life by people who think he can't win.

"People who say that Herman Cain has no chance of winning the nomination for the Republican Party or win the presidency -- I simply say thank you," he said. "Because all my life I have been in situations where I wasn't supposed to become VP of Pillsbury, I wasn't supposed to be able to turn Godfather's Pizza around. I wasn't supposed to succeed in climbing the corporate ladder in corporate America. So to the people who say I don't have a chance, I say: Thank you. Because that inspires me."

An exploratory committee is generally the first step a potential candidate takes in seeking the White House.  Cain is expected to announce whether he'll formally seek the nomination later this year.

2012 Who Will Republicans Run Against Obama?

So, I hear my fellow conservatives saying that Obama will only be a one term president. I feel they are correct. However, I can't help but think, "Who? Who are we going to nominate that will be able to beat Obama?"

Yes, it seems as though any mammal will do. I mean Obama is just terrible but, there's a danger in being too confident. Look what happened in the primaries last time. McCain? McCain was the nominee? Huh? I never thought he'd be the nominee. The man is a total RINO as far as most people are concerned. I had much more faith in my party, that we would elect someone with actual conservative values, and someone that was consistent.

The Republican Party has many people I think would be able to beat Obama but, who are these darlings of the right? Who are the ones that are standing out as potential leaders of the free world?

1) Sarah Palin? Well, there are many on the right that love the beauty queen with balls. She has impressed many with her strong values. Still, she's quite the lightening rod. Sure, a female president would be a great achievement for this country but, will she be able to win over enough people to put her in the highest office of the land?

The problem I see with her is she's sort of the Hilary Clinton of the right. Those that like her, love her but, those that hate her...boy oh boy, they hate her. Let's be honest though, the whole "writing on the hand, when you could have just brought out a note card" incident was, childish. I like Sarah, I really do but, presidential material? I'm not feeling it.

2) Mike Huckabee. I'm a Mike fan! This is a man I'm pulling for. I really like him. There's a few issues I'm not too sure of with him but, no one is going to agree with you 100 percent. I think he's likable, he really appears to have some character, he's an actual conservative, and he's clean, meaning I don't know of him associated with anything corrupt.

I would really like to see him run in 2012. I think he'd be great for the country. He's just a stand up kind of man.

3) David Petraeus. Hmmm...I've seen this name tossed around. I'm not too sure about this one. I wasn't impressed by his lack of judgment for having a Rolling Stone reporter follow him around and, do a story about him and the war. I mean, Rolling Stone? Really? Who didn't see that fall out coming from miles away?

Still, he seems to have an overall interesting character about him and, Americans love and respect a man who's been to war and, served his country.

4) Ron Paul. I don't know. Lot's of friends I have like this man but, I'm still up in the air with him. I like the fact that he didn't run as a 3rd party last time. I respect that. Still, not sure I'm in agreement with what appears to be his isolation policies.

5) Mitt Romney. Well, I wasn't too big on him last time, I doubt my feelings are going to change later on. He's a decent guy. I have much respect but, he's too liberal for me. He doesn't seem like he would be good for the party overall but, what do I know?

6) Jeb Bush. I really like Jeb Bush. There's a big problem here. His last name is Bush and unfortunately, he just might not have the ability to win because of it. Could the country be ready for another Bush? The man is conservative. He's a really great politician but, his last name is Bush. Did I already say that?

7) Newt Gingrich. I like Newt. I like his politics and I respect him but, let's face it, his personal life is screwed.

8) What about Paul Ryan? I like this guy a lot. Yes, he's young but, I haven't heard anything bad about him. I love watching him. Okay, okay, I'm a woman....he looks good. More than that, he's conservative. Looks like he voted YES for the automobile industry bailout. Uh-oh but, over all, his record is pretty darn right. I like him.
